extracting audio channels from audio CDs

what program do i use to do this? i know someone did it with Beautiful Day so theres hardly any vocals or base onit, anyone help me with this?

You can attempt to use a program like Adobe Audition 2.0 (which I have). Basically, it can remove a range of frequencies (e.g. for vocals). I use the "Center Channel Extractor" Filter. However, it's fair to good at best. Once a song is mixed, it's mixed, and the software might end up removing too much or too little.
