dilema with U2 ipod video

Hope someone can help me with this

I have some video downloads of U2 songs on my computer they are windows media files and quick time movie files, i send them to my removable disk where the ipod is plugged in, but it doesnt seem to work...

so i was wondering if there was a way to convert these onto my ipod???

1) i think in order to add songs/videos to your iPod, you need to have them in your iTunes library, and you add them that way. I'm not so sure that dragging it from your computer to the iPod removable disk icon will work....so hopefully if you try putting your videos into your iTunes, it will work.

2) i haven't tried this program for myself, but this link has been floating around the internet
it's a downloadable program that converts files into mp4 format (the ONLY format that video iPods can recognize)

hopefully that helped a little!
i don't have an iPod yet, but I'm getting one soon, so I've been reading up on some stuff ;]
