A Walkman, an Audio Line (mini jack), and Garage Band are your friends. You would then export from Garage Band as an mp3 and burn them onto a disc using itunes.

I used to do this all the time with Music Match on a pc. Back when I still had cassettes. Pre-napster, I think CD-r's were still new, this website probably had that weird collage logo on the frontpage at that time too.

If it's music your trying to encode, it would probably just be worth it to buy it again using itunes/amazon and save yourself some time and the quality would be better too.

I personally recommend Audacity instead of Garage Band, because then you can export it losslessly, and you have a bit more control. But all Macs should have line in ports, so either one will work.
