I'm in search of a camcorder, and there are so darn many out there that I'm getting confused. I'll be using it alot at night, and I've read that alot of them have serious problems in low light situations. I'm budgeting around $500- $600. Any suggestions? I know some of you are dealing with low light all the time...

I am going to purchase a harddrive based camcorder. The JVC Enviro models look very good.

Hard Drive is the way to go if you have a DVD burner installed on your computer. My computer is also set up for Microsoft Media Center so I will be able to access all of my videos from my living room tv

Next step besides a hard-drive cam would be a DVCam (or MiniDV if you can't get ahold of a DVCam). Whatever you do, do not get a VHS, VHS-C or any other variation thereof. I have a background (broadcast journalism) in working with various types of cameras. If you want to post the different models you're looking at, I can tell you what I think about them. :)
