(WEGA)

That's what I had before my Samsung. For some dumb, goddamned reason I hauled the beast upstairs. Now I have to figure out how to get rid of it. I think it's too big to drop out of my window. I'd put an ad on Craigslist for free, but I'm sure some moron would hurt themselves getting the thing out.

Do I give the nephews sledgehammers?

lol, I had to help my dad slide it down the stairs into their basement when he got it. My parents have decided to include it (along with the piano) when they sell the house.

I remember selling those at Circuit City back in the mid-90's. They were beautiful TVs at the time, but yes, they weighed a ton. It wasn't fun having to put those suckers out on display.

All of those 800-junk companies will take tv's from any room, as long as they can lift them/move them somehow. Of course there's a charge, and I would ask them first about the size, etc. Some charities will take them too, if you can arrange for them to come into your place and take them. I think most appliance recycling companies that come to you will require that you at least place it at the curb.

I also used to sell at an electronics store, we had a Mitsubishi 40" tube tv...the biggest ever made. I got it for one of my relatives and it took 4 people to move it.

That's the one. It weighs in at a little over 200 lbs. I never have to worry about it being stolen.

My Mom still has that one. Over the years, she has spent far more on people to move it than a damn new one would have cost.

I was in Costco yesterday and they had a Sharp Aquos BluRay player for 120 something, I think it was 127. Don't know if it's a stripped down model (for that price I think so), I'd have to write down the model number and do some research on it. They had a Panasonic and a Samsung and some others- none were that cheap.

I did some checking on Amazon and they mentioned that you have to download updates to BluRay players sometimes via a USB connection. Why? That sounds like a pain.

That's mainly for the BD-Live feature. If you don't think you'd ever use that interactive feature, you don't really have to worry about it.

Although you can update your player without a USB connection by just saving it onto a blank disc and then putting it directly into the unit.
