Hasn't left my mind for a moment since I saw it last night. One of the most powerful films I've ever seen. Frightening, provocative, unforgettable. Fuck. Let's talk about it. Jessica Chastain is stunning, and I want to kiss her on the lips. She has really nice lips. And hair. And face.

"Oh GAF, what you said made me so wet. Please kiss me on the lips!" :giggle:

Yes I have to see this movie. It seems to be in select theatres for now.

In what way?

It is a scary movie, to be sure. There's a moment about half way through that was as suspenseful as anything I've ever watched, and I was basically watching it while peeking through the cracks in my hands as they covered my eyes.

Also, this is EASILY the best recent entry in the Zero Dark series.

We know that Zero Dark 1 through 24 were all pretty strong, but then Zero Dark 25 was a total disaster, and 26-29 weren't all that great, either.

In what way?

The torture scenes. From what I've read it sounds like I might not be able to handle it. In Life of Pi, for example, a PG-rated film with children sitting next to me, I had trouble with
the suggestion of animal pain.

Are we talking significantly worse than Casino Royale? I have seen much worse than that but don't exactly seek it out.

The torture scenes are definitely not pretty but, yeah, I think most of us have seen worse. And J.C. is in all of those scenes off to the side so you can just look at her when the violent stuff is going down.

I was just talking about this with my friends who had seen it, and we all agreed that it wasn't that harsh. When most people hear the word "torture" they're thinking of physical pain being inflicted. And there's very little of that.

Sleep deprivation, confined spaces, etc. The waterboarding isn't pretty, but again it's not like the guy's getting his fingernails pulled off or whipped.

Casino Royale is definitely worse in terms of what actually happens.

Thanks, guys. This is good to know. I used to be more tough-skinned than I am now. I do want to see this, though.

Last night waiting for Morrissey on Letterman, Brian Williams was the other guest and ZDT came up. He said the Navy SEALS go on missions just like that nearly every day. That kind of blew my mind.
