Vince Vaughn was working with corrupt politicians including Dead Guy to finance a deal that would create a monorail line. Part of that deal *overhead shot of highway* included possibly buying up land around the area of the monorail that hasn't been developed because of toxic waste, and if we were to infer, likely wiping clean the EPA records of that land so that it can be developed on without environmental issues rearing their ugly heads. But Dead Guy got killed with all of Vaughn's money in his pocket. The rest of the politicians who are dirty don't want much getting dug up *overhead shot of highway* because their own backroom dealings could surface. The only ones who want answers to what actually happened are our three hero cops and Vaughn, who wants to know what happened to his money. Now we've got this gang banger on the hook *overhead shot of highway* since he was seen pawning Dead Guy's shit, a convenient development for any of Dead Guy's political connections, and now they're dead in a *overhead shot of highway* bloodbath. Is that basically it?

Was it a set up (them going in there to nab the pimp)? Because they made a point to say backup was going to be a while, then one officer asks shouldn't we wait for backup, and Bezzerides replies with --Bosses said to take 'em now--.

Seemed like a set up to me. Like 3 main heroes are getting too close so let's take 'em out, it'll look like drug/gang busy gone wrong, and our asses will lose the heat.

I would definitely say it was a setup. Before the police could do anything, they were shot at. The bad guys were waiting for them to arrive. I'm sure that will be discussed in the upcoming episode.

Most definitely a set up.

And think how upset the mayor will be! He'll probably need to have some drinks.

Also enjoyed watching Rick Springfield get the shit kicked out of him. And a Lloyd Braun appearance is always fun.

I've got blue balls in my heart...or something.

This show is entertaining on so many levels. I don't even know what those levels are anymore. I like it - i can't stop watching - it's bad - im a horrible person - etc.

who needs laughing gas anymore?

I love that they basically just grunt out vague ideas about the actual investigation so that they can get back to talking about how much they hate themselves and the world.

And Bezzerides is back to regular cigarettes, surprised since both Velcoro and Woodrugh made mention of the e-cigs previously neither said anything about the switch back.

I was cheering when that happened. He looks like the second of coming of Phil Spector on this show.

So in reality this is like that awful car crash that we can't help but look at?

I just really like big dicks. Yeah. It's not just length. Everybody's always talkin' length, but it's fine. I mean, girth, too. I really want to have trouble handcuffing the thing.
