I love bad disaster movies. I will stop and watch Day After Tomorrow on cable whenever I run across it. I liked Dante's Peak, too.

But 2012? No.

^For me that's Deep Impact and Armageddon. Bad disaster movies. But still entertaining to watch.

I love High Fidelity but the more I think about it, its not because of the two leads (Cusack and Hjejle), its the supporting cast that really makes it what it is.

Deep Impact & 2012 both follow the corollary that if you have a black President civilization may be destroyed by nature.

Day After Tomorrow is entertaining, but as a holder of a degree in Meteorology there are a few parts that violate the laws of Thermodynamics Bigly.

The makers of Twister did their homework. For dramatic effect they started calling out the F intensity of developing tornadoes. Normally they don't know until they do a post-mortem of the ground damage afterwards. However, you can make a visual judgment of Fujita intensity based upon shape and width of said tornadoes

Twister has a great script that develops band of misfit weather nuts. I can confirm these folks do exist in their sheer orgasmic excitement over technical details.

"Repo Man spends his life getting into tense situations, Beltzer!"

I stand by my belief that Dusty is one of Philip Seymour Hoffman's greatest roles.

"The Suck Zone. It's the point basically when the twister, sucks you up. That's not the technical term for it, obviously"

I liked Dusty, too .

'Twister' is a fun movie. When it's on some movie channel I'll often stop and watch it.

- Rabbit is wise Rabbit is good

- Today, we're gonna make history, so stick around. 'Cause the days of sniffing the dirt are over.

- When you said you chased tornadoes, deep down I always just thought it was a metaphor

"Fashionably late again Jonas! Give me a kiss man, come on"

"Where's my truck?" *it drops from the sky* "there it is"

"I'm just wondering are we gonna chase this tornado or wait for the next one?"

Another poster brought up in another thread the fact that Humans Being is the best Van Hagar song and I totally agree. If the soundtrack was just that song repeated 12 times it'd be a great soundtrack

The John Cusack thread

Yeah that's where I was talking about Sammys lyrics in Mine All Mine.

I love Sammy's vocal range

Respect the Wind is the instrumental track that runs over the end credits. Pretty awesome

Darling Pretty is a lovely song

Hey, now - slow your roll. I never made any claim that anything in that movie was scientifically accurate. I just enjoy the shit out of it.

Twister - YES.

Tornadoes always scared the hell out of me growing up in Wisconsin, so I was legit anxious when I first saw the movie.
