WTF is up with the 10 movies?

I hope Kathryn Bigelow takes it (and The Hurt Locker too). Far better film than Avatar.

Good nominees this year. Should be interesting to see what takes best picture. I like Inglorious Basterds out of the movies that I saw.

Precious getting anything aside from the acting categories is a joke, let alone Picture, Directing, and Editing. The Hurt Locker has an original score? At least Mr. Fox and Sherlock Holmes made it on there. Up's gonna win there.

The only BP nom, I haven't seen is The Blind Side, which may stay that way. Meh. Also, In the Loop getting an Adapted Screenplay nom has me going over the moon. Also,

Not sure if that's a general wtf, or if you hadn't heard the news last year - they wanted to try 10 movies. I think the gist of the reasoning was that if they opened it up a bit, they could nominate more "popular" movies and therefore get more people to watch.

I'm not 100% sure if that's right, but that's what I got out of it. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

But if that is the case, I think it's a ridiculous idea. But whatever.

What is District 9 about? Out of the ten I've seen Up (loved it), Up In The Air, Avatar, and Blind Side.

I have to see Hurt Locker, it's on my On Demand and I still haven't seen it. I would love to see a woman finally get best director. She's an ex wife of James Cameron and he showed her Avatar several times to get her opinion.
I would actually like to see Sandra Bullock win-it's like an f you to the pretentiousness of some people in Hollywood. And she was good in that movie. I'm sure there have been worse performances that have won best actress and actor.

The Blind Side...for best picture? Sure Sandra Bullock was very good and will probably win Best Actress...but the film is far from Oscar material

Yay for Star Trek with 4 nominations...

But if I had my way....I.B wud sweep

I think that is about right

they had 10 best pic noms until 1943? I think.

There have been years when I thought 5 was too few.

This year 10 seems like too many.

7 might have been better.
