Bruno and Bono

Don't know if this is covered elsewhere but if so, please move thread.

Not to spoil anything but if you like Bruno/Borat/Ali G/Sasha Baron Cohen and you like Bono, then I suggest you go see this movie.

I just watched it, oh man, that was so funny. Everybody loved when Bono came on and in the second time lots of people started clapping. And his reactions were hilarious, Bono's got a great comic timing. I'm thinking about seeing it again, it was very funny.

yes bono was great. lol. that was good.

Oh boy. Ftw. I started frantically texting my friends, asking who wants to see it this weekend. Might have to do it!

Brüno is from my country, people are delighted

Seriously, there is A LOT of controversy about that movie here, but it's the biggest publicity.

Don't know if I'll go and watch it, though, I'm not a movie person at all and that's just not my kind of humour.

Is there any screen cap of Bono's appearance in the movie?

ETA

I read about the Bono bit on a blog.

I was asking someone to put it in spoiler tags but whatever...it's probably not worth getting too excited about.

The movie might be good but hopefully unlike Borat, it's won't be kind of a one-note, drag-on-too-long film. Borat was hilarious but near the end I was a little sick of the character.

And I never really found Bruno to be that funny on Da Ali G SHow.
Outside of the bit on the beach with the rednecks.
Fuckin funny.

I am all about crude ironic humor, I just get tired of things easily.

there's no way this is the right thread for it, but frankly everything stopped being particularly funny after ali g. in my opinion.

each to their own, though.

I saw it last night, had no idea Bono was in it! His part is awesome. There are also a couple U2/Bono references in the movie:

1) Bruno is trying to find a "fashionable cause," and he says something like "Clooney has Save Darfur," etc., and ends on "...and Bono has AIDS!"

2) Apparently he traded a U2 iPod for his African baby.

As well, at the theatre I went to see it at, the previews included a clip slash Blackberry advertisement featuring the remix for "I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Crazy Tonight," presumably filmed at Barcelona II. It was pretty cool.

I went to see it last night. I was in tears. from start to finish, I dont think there was a 5 minute stretch where I wasnt laughing. I was worried it was going to be not so great, but i think it mightve been funnier than Borat. The Borat character is better than Bruno, but I thought there were so many more funny parts in this movie. Plus, its under 1.5 hours, so it doesnt outstay its welcome. If you arent offended by crude humour, I dont know how you cant find this movie funny.:up:

I thought the same thing when i first heard they were making the Bruno movie, but trust me, they take everything that was somewhat funny about Bruno and go completely overboard with stuff they just couldnt get away with on TV. I wasnt disappointed in the slightest

I think I enjoyed Borat less than most people because I was really hyped by the trailers and interviews and everything. It became a disappointment and dragged on out.
I had low expectations for Bruno and I was dying of laughter over and over again. Maybe low expectations is the key.

So, I probably shouldn't bring my 11yr. old? :hmm:

Yeah, no. I'm surprised this wasn't NC-17. It probably was, but the
black boxes during the sex scenes saved it. Also, I hope your 11-year-old is comfortable with the male appendage because there's quite a lot of it.

Hubby took me tonight as promised.. let me just say this: He gets to pick the next 20 movies. The trailer shows the only 3 funny scenes in the movie. So just watch that and you're good to go.

I am not offended by crude humor, and there was some chuckles at some of it but most of it was just fecking stoopid. If my kids hadn't been in 'I Love You Beth Cooper' we'd probably have walked out.

I'm 0 for 2 now, last one that I swore he'd love was "I Love You, Man". :|

Wha?!?!?! are you serious? for real, this was the funniest movie I've seen in a long time. How didnt you laugh???? I was crying

the entire movie was like watching a gay porno i couldnt believe that was only rated R.

and does anyone know where you can download the song they sing? that was crazy i didnt expect bono to be in it

I thought it was a dumb funny. Not a smart funny like Borat. It felt like a Tom Green skit dragged out for too long.

Even my husband who, as David put it, likes "dumb funny" thought it was lame. For me, it was like watching an X rated version of something Will Farrell or (and I say this with all due respect because I like some of his movies) Adam Sandler would do.
