I have to check my iTunes. John Barry's music only may come in second to U2 in number of tracks.

So much to love about all of his stuff. I'm going to get teary-eyed if I keep looking up all of it.

I haven't heard the High road to China one, but that's really nice.

There are some under the radar scores like this one:

YouTube - ENIGMA 'Main Title' - John Barry (HQ + ending )

and then the classics:

YouTube - John Barry - You Only Live Twice (Instrumental)

YouTube - JOHN BARRY CONDUCTS GOLDFINGER, JAMES BOND THEME

He has some qualities that remind me of R. Vaughn Williams

Oooh, I'll have to check him out (if I don't already have some of his stuff).

My Mom was a huge Henry Mancini fan as I was growing up, then John Williams hits with Star Wars' soundtrack, and I wind up hooked on soundtracks. Couple that with being a big James Bond movie fan, and there you go.

That Out of Africa score is so insanely good; one for the ages. Punctures your heart in the first ten seconds and doesn't let up.

And it's funny how the music in The English Patient takes some MAJOR inspiration from it, though Gabriel Yared's score is itself one of the best I've ever heard.

As soon as you see the plane with the music it brings that movie to mind.
