This is fucking awful. I can't believe it. This is one of the toughest celebrity deaths I've ever been hit with. Probably the worst since Ledger. Super talented, super charming, beautiful young man. 31 years old. Embodied one of the nicest, sweetest, goofiest, most awkward and fun-loving fictional characters in recent TV history. He had a great smile and a great spirit.
Fuck this. Poured out a lot for him tonight. Sending big love out to his family, of course, but also to our girl Lea Michele.
This was a show that focused a lot on singing and singing ability, especially with its young cast. Monteith was easily the least naturally gifted singer in the entire original "New Directions" cast, but he tried out on a whim and they hired him anyway because his presence and his warmth and likability couldn't be denied.
He was a big man and a big spirit and he will be missed.
