Awesome Bond movie, enjoyed it a lot. It had everything that a Bond movie always has including all of the ridiculously unbelievable elements, but managed to tie it all together quite well. Acting was spot on, and even most of those usual cringe-worthy Bond lines were genuinely funny enough to not be too cheesy.

1990 was a long time ago now. Well I finally got around to seeing this, and glad that I did although it's not really my sort of movie. So much about the little world that Burton created is ingenious though, from the main character in his gloomy (but amazing) castle down to the somehow even more bizarre suburbia that sits just down the hill. Johnny Depp is perfect as Edward, you can't help but feel sorry for the guy yet also laugh at his quirks. The story itself isn't really that intriguing but it's the characters and the world that make it worth seeing. Also I could hardly believe that the meathead boyfriend was nerd boy Brian from The Breakfast Club!
The X-Files Movie (Fight the Future)
Argh. I used to like the show but like almost every TV series with a serious outlook it inevitably collapses under its own weight as the writers are forced to introduce and maintain too many intriguing story elements to keep the viewers hooked. The movie was entertaining enough and on a par with some of the better episodes, but take a step back for a moment to question the alien virus plot and it all falls in a heap. How were the Syndicate guys surprised that the virus had been an alien gestation process, how could they have not noticed the big bug-eyed faces staring out at them from the bellies of the frozen hosts? The building bombing didn't make much sense either. Why didn't the aliens just stomp out humanity from the very beginning? And.. okay I'd better stop there but needless to say the story could have done with some more work.. Oh one more thing, I'd forgotten that back then there was still the hoopla with the Mulder & Scully romance, and here the scriptwriters decided to pander to the fans yet at the same time annoy the shit out of them.

I did enjoy the first XF movie more than you did (don't get me started on the second one), but that is very true.
My summary of it was probably more harsh than it should've been, I still found it kinda enjoyable. It was on TV and I didn't change channels, if that counts for anything. 
I won't be watching the latest one though so it definitely won't be me who winds you up about it..

Movie about John Lennon and Stu Stutcliffe, and the Beatles early years in Hamburg. It was okay, although I might have enjoyed it more had I not just recently read the latest Lennon bio. So the movie just felt like a rehash.
The soundtrack is really great, though. The band is made up of alt-rockers from the 90s, blasting out sloppy, fun versions of the old rock n roll tunes the Beatles played back in their club days. Mike Mills, Dave Pirner, Greg Dulli .... and a few others I'm forgetting about.

Michael Douglas on the other hand was so lame in this movie I wanted to press a very hot iron on his nude body before stabbing him with a plastic fork in order to make him suffer.
honestly. those scenes were so lusty and the groans of the two of them, I mean come ON! you would NOT catch anyone in the world being as moany loud as them two were!

liam neeson was the only decent acting job, but he was basically the only actor in most of the film
the story was actually slightly plausible, but the funny thing was that liam neeson's daughter wants to go to paris for her summer vacay with a friend - but then at lax, he finds out she and the friend are *gasp* going to follow U2 around on their european tour!!
even though U2 hasn't toured in europe for about four years, but whatever.....
anyway, the ending was really dumb....he like rescues his daughter, and they're shown hugging, and it could have ended there, but they decide to show them going back to LA, and the daughter hasn't come around at all

It's "Neal", but I saw it ages ago in the theatre. I remember it being a decent but over-the-top thriller. It's all about Sharon Stone though, isn't it? Career-defining performance even if she really didn't live up to it afterwards.
