I think it's my favorite, as well.

The Birdcage is great. The Graduate is one of my ten favorite films. Nichols elevates the material with his remarkable direction and the closing scene is one of my favorite cinematic moments. RIP

Just to be clear, if I really think about it, there's nothing, direction-wise, wrong with Wolf. The movie is just too ludicrous for me to take seriously. I love it, I've seen it like three or four times, but, I can't look at it as anything beyond goofy.

Spader, Nicholson, Michelle Pa-Phifers... Wolf is my favorite "used to be on TNT for 24 hours" staple.

Going back to Elaine May though, Mikey and Nicky with John Cassavetes & Peter Falk is a gem. Criterion has it up on Hulu though I don't think they've released it on any home video format.

Make it a point to seek out ...All the Marbles, too. Peak Falk and Robert Aldrich's swan song.

I feel like you might've recommended me that one once before.

I have never really seen Falk in much of anything besides bit roles/cameos and Columbo, but damn do I love columbo.

Falk is the glue of Wings of Desire. Who knows where it would have drifted off to without that performance.

I posted about ...All the Marbles in the review thread a few weeks back. He has a rivalry with Burt Young, too, if you're into that sort of thing.

OH AND JUST ONE MORE THING... Wings of Desire is hella captivating in all of the non-Falk scenes. Give credit where credit is due. Falk's moments just happen to be on another plane of greatness due to his impossibly dynamic personality.

Speaking of Wenders, I bought the director's cut of Until The End Of The World, which is only available in Germany (luckily, 95% of the dialogue is in English). It runs about 4.5 hours and is divided into 3 parts.

I enjoyed the theatrical cut, but this is so much better. If you don't like his stuff, you probably won't like this. But I think it's fantastic.

Husbands is the film. Falk is amazing, but eclipsed but two even greater Cassavetes and Jackie Treehorn performances.

If you haven't seen The In-Laws with Falk and Alan Arkin, seek it out.
