When will American law enforcement/policy makers stop caring about whether or not their spoiled starlets get nosebleeds?

Echoing the others here... . Ah, thank you, Oprah, for adding that word to the lexicon.

I honestly can't believe people think that's a logical defense. But then again, if you're stupid enough to get caught up in doing cocaine...

I fully agree, she should serve just as much time as any other person who gets caught with cocaine does, but of course, she won't, 'cause it's too much for her fragile self or some sort of lame crap argument (if she's "tough enough" to take drugs, she's tough enough to deal with the consequences of that action). I would suggest rehab, 'cause honestly I think most drug users should go that route instead of jail, but we all know how beautifully Hollywood rehab seems to go for many celebrities . Sad to hear this story, I was never much a fan of her, but I thought she was maybe, I dunno, growing up a little, or something?

On the plus side, she's got one of the best-looking mug shots I've ever seen of a celebrity.

Sort of relevant story:

A friend of mine got a DUI, in Arizona. He was drunk as shit and retarded about it, and he definitely deserved what he got--which, in the land of ZERO TOLERANCE, was 10 days in jail, a year of probation (no out of state travel, an in-car breathalyzer, etc.), some pretty hefty fines, and a restricted driver's license. At least according to both the DA and his own attorneys, that was the standard sentence (possibly even somewhat lenient, given that it was his first offense).

Charles Barkley was arrested the same weekend, tried by the same judge, and charged by the same DA. He got an afternoon in jail, less costly fines than those of my friend, and he CLEARLY wasn't under any kind of travel restrictions, given that he continued to broadcast for TNT.

Los Angeles, California (CNN) -- A tell-all book by a former "Girls Gone Wild" photographer alleges that Paris Hilton once smuggled illegal drugs into Europe using a cigarette box hidden inside her body.

Hilton's representative did not comment on the book's allegation when contacted by CNN Wednesday.

A copy of "Flash! Bars, Boobs and Busted -- 5 years on the Road with Girls Gone Wild" was filed as an exhibit in the publisher's response to a lawsuit aimed at stopping its sale on Tuesday.

The lawsuit described the "Girls Gone Wild" video series as "filming real college coeds reveling in spring break."

The video series' founder, Joe Francis, filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court in July accusing his former employee, Ryan Simkins, of violating confidentiality agreements with the book.

"Simkins agreed orally and in writing not to disclose confidential information or speak publicly in a manner that could harm the reputation of Mr. Francis or the Girls Gone Wild enterprise," his suit said.

Simkin's legal response contended he was not bound by any confidentiality agreement.

"To the extent the parties previously may have agreed that the defendant would not write about plaintiffs, that agreement was waived by plaintiffs," the response said.

The book became available online Tuesday despite the lawsuit, according to the publisher's lawyer.

Publisher 4th Street Media, named as a co-defendant, submitted the book as an exhibit in a court filing on Tuesday.

An excerpt of the filing obtained by CNN described a purported encounter between Simkins and Hilton, who was naked in her dressing room during a photo shoot in Los Angeles. Hilton was about to fly to Europe to meet Francis, whom she was dating at the time, he wrote.

Simkins wrote that he was delivering a Camel cigarette package filled with cocaine and Ecstasy to Hilton at the request of Francis:

"I took out the Camel box and handed it to her, and she thanked me. We talked for a minute or two about the apparent difficulty of procuring those drugs in Europe. I asked if she was flying private, and she said, 'No, commercial.' And then as politely as I could, I asked her how she planned on traveling with that amount of blow and X.

"She held the box in her right hand, and then with an underhand swoop like a lower case J, she demonstrated exactly how she intended to beat airport security. She even whistled as she did it."

He then describes how she placed the box between her legs and into her body.

Hilton was arrested in Las Vegas, Nevada, on a cocaine possession charge last month.

When Paris Hilton was arrested Aug. 27 for having cocaine in her purse, her first reaction was to tell the police that the purse didn't belong to her. But some savvy Twitter followers have since noticed a strange coincidence: the purse Hilton was holding when she was pulled over bears a striking resemblance to one she bought in July. Has the heiress been caught in a lie?

You can decide for yourself: Here's the Twitpic Hilton posted on July 15, with the caption, "Love My New Chanel Purse I got Today." And here's a paparazzi photo of Hilton on Aug. 27, in which she is holding a very similar black-and-gold handbag.

Maybe a vague memory of her tweet is the reason that Hilton immediately started backpedaling on her excuse: When last we heard, she was claiming that the purse was hers, but a friend borrowed it and returned it full of her own possessions (including the drugs).

Paris Hilton isn't the first celeb to suffer Twitter-related embarrassment. Two weeks ago, tattoo artist Kat Von D tweeted (and then quickly deleted) that she was dating Jesse James while their reps were working overtime to deny it. Britney Spears appeared to be posting Satanic messages on her feed last November, before it was revealed that her account had been hacked. Meghan McCain inadvertently revealed a ton of cleavage in a Twitpic last October. And in February, Eva Longoria accidentally directed fans to a porn site instead of her husband's homepage. Of course, a Twitter faux pas can work in a celeb's favor too -- just as Kim Kardashian, whose Twitter slip-ups have kept her in the gossip pages between seasons of her show.

However, if Hilton's Twitpic ends up being evidence in a courtroom? That may be a celebrity first.

ridiculous. it's not like i want her to go to jail or anything, but this whole "hey you're a celebrity so you get off scot-free" thing is waaaaay old. $2k is a drop in the bucket to her.

Fer sure....I'm sure she's got handbags, shoes and gowns costing much more than $2k. This just makes me sick. People like Paris in these situations should in addition to heftier fines be forced to do hundreds of hours of community service. It's just not fair.
