One of the more predictable ceremonies across the board. Biggest shock was Tree of Life losing the Cinematography award, so I guess that proves my point.

Also, 2010 had 8 great movies nominated for Best Picture (minus Avatar/Blind Side) and 2011 had 9 (minus Inception)....but this year, we were treated to three Oscar-baity shitfests receiving recognition (ELIC, Help and War Horse). I still can't believe that Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close even got nominated. It had a 38/100 on Metacritic the last time I checked.

I'm just gonna go ahead and say, looking at Streep's IMDb page, that I really just like her a lot.

And I'll go ahead and throw it out there that I loved her in Julie and Julia.

Here's a stat for you:

The Iron Lady's TWO Oscar wins are more than any Meryl Streep film since Out Of Africa, in 1985.

That's...sad. And proof positive that she doesn't have much of an eye for truly great material, or isn't interested in finding any beyond the role it provides for her.
