Whatever. I still don't like it, but I suppose we'll see how this plays out.

That doesn't mean 1977 Eloise knew this was going to happen. I think killing your future son would likely affect you, unless you're a cold heartless bitch (which she is). It really depends if Jack and Kate succeed in the hydrogen bomb thing, then none of this will happen.

Some people work very hard at losing their accents for one reason or another. Josh Holloway lost his Southern accent for Hollywood jobs, but quickly had to regain it when he was hired for Lost. I don't think it's a plot secret, to be honest.

Damn. I really liked DF. I always just wanted to hug him and tell him it would be OK.

Ah but there's the rub...would the producers be sure to make Holloway use a southern accent for Sawyer and yet let Farraday and his mother speak completely differently?

Speaking of Holloway, a friend pointed out that way back when he was in Aerosmith's video for "Cryin'". I looked it up, and laughed seeing him get drop-kicked by Alicia Silverstone.

Since we’re talking about Lost, there could be more to Daniel’s accent, but -- I know an English woman here in the US who still speaks with a heavy accent. She has two kids, 4 and 7 years old, and neither of them speaks with an English accent. You would think they might have at least a tinge of one, since the voice they hear the most is probably their mother’s, but they don’t. So if Daniel was raised mostly in the US, maybe his accent makes sense.

Ok I'm not happy about losing Daniel as a character on Lost, but I don't think he went in to that camp blindly, stupidly getting himself killed. I believe this was deliberate. I think he was smart enough to have figured out what needed to happen. We are still missing a piece of the puzzle but I think he did this knowing it was a necessary step in setting the wheel in motion for the events that are about to happen.

Feels like Dumbledore's death in HBP. Either that, or shitty writing by the writers. Lost is a show you can't really judge until you get the whole picture, and we're going to be waiting a while the end of this thing.

Ditto.

This was a great episode however I feel like they are rushing the story line to get too many loose ends tied up at once. It just feels more hurried than other other episodes..

I don't think Daniel dies here for real.

And if a hydrogen bomb detonates with the passengers still on the island, does that mean they are never even born? wait - no...only the characters who were born on the island...like Ben?

Really though? He appeared in modern life with the other 'research' people, didn't he? That means he exists in our time, despite what happens on the island.

Except that they've gone to pains to tell us (last episode notwithstanding) that their stint in the 1970s is their present and they could die at anytime.

If the bomb detonates (which it doesn't because we see the Island in 2004 and beyond) then everyone dies, but that doesn't mean they were never born because their own personal lives are on a single timeline. So if 1977 is their present, that means they were always there and it is as it's always happened.

There's people that think the story will eventually reveal a time loop, and some that think that the struggle being played out is to change that loop.

I don't know, though. My head hurts trying to figure all this out.

Ben wasn't born on the island.
