Just got home, following the awards on IMDB now. What were the nominees for original score? I mean, the score for Up was good, but I'm curious what its competition was.

Lance: Informant, Avatar, A Single Man, and Wild Things.

I like the fact that Streep gets as much time as she wants, but the Grey Gardens kids were quickly played off.

It's going to suck to see Sandra Bullock win over Carey Mulligan. It's going to suck really, really hard.

Up (2009): Michael Giacchino
Avatar (2009): James Horner
The Informant! (2009): Marvin Hamlisch
A Single Man (2009): Abel Korzeniowski
Where the Wild Things Are (2009): Carter Burwell, Karen Orzolek

Pretty solid list, though I'd switch Horner for Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes score.

Ehhh, those are some weak nominees, so I'm OK with that win. Though Hamlisch probably deserved it a bit more.

If I marry a woman who looks as good as Helen Mirren at 64, I will have succeeded.

The Hurt Locker'
Mark Boal
'District 9'
Neill Blomkamp, Terri Tatchell
'Inglourious Basterds'
Quentin Tarantino
'It's Complicated'
Nancy Meyers
'Up in the Air'
Jason Reitman, Sheldon Turner

That is a weak-ass screenplay list.

And the kicker is that she seems cool as shit, too. I'd be down with Mirren.

First Ballot Lynx Hall-of-Famer.

Who's the Avatar girl? Yowza. She's probably a blue cat person the entire movie, so I'll continue to skip it.

What's next, Michael? Are you going to make dancing illegal? Is this the tiny town from Footloose?

I remember when I first noticed her

Greenaway's - The Cook the Thief His Wife & Her Lover -

she does uncontrollable passion like nobody's business.

I'll probably catch Whip It at the free student theater this week, along with Thirst. One will at least be guaranteed to be awesome.
