Very very true, Comet. I just felt somewhat disappointed after finishing the ep, and reading assorted imdb threads about it didn't help (a lot of people criticized it and pointed out inconsistancies/plot holes). Still, I think that the end of the season opens up a ton of doors for next season, and there are so many possibilities. I cannot wait!!!!! :applaud:
 
Does anyone else think Dexters dark passenger killed Rita ? Many hints were given during the course of the series to suggest Dexter was losing his mind.
 
No, I guess the creator confirmed that it was Trinity in an Entertainment Weekly interview. (I haven't read it, but I've been told)
That would have been waaay too creepy :uhoh: (to me anyways!)
 
She had her needy moments but I never wanted that to happen and in such a horrific way too! Considering her prior life with Paul, she just wanted normalcy in her life. Poor Rita and the poor baby...
I was really sad and felt stupid for nearly crying over fiction.

Dexter says he's incapable of feelings but he's full of shit. He loved her. Some of my favorite moments over the seasons were Dexter/Rita moments.
Oooh wee will there be some released demons in season 5.

Dexter loved Rita the best he could. When did trinity have the time though ? it just doesnt make sense.
 
Yeah, I was kind of emotionally shaken by the finale - [and felt a little silly about it]. I think it was the thought of the baby witnessing his mother's murder, and being left alone and distraught, that upset me more than Rita's death (maybe because i have kids just a little bit older).

The whole thing now feels sort of appropriate to me, however. I mean, the dude is a serial killer - to simply continue allowing him to have a fairly warm and happy family life just wouldn't sit quite right.
 
I felt almost zero emotion at Rita's death. The moon stuff was great though.
 
I thought of the movie Seven when I saw that ending scene. I guess Lithgow had been searching around for Morgan's during the show, so that didn't surprise me. Just surprised Dexter didn't really think of something like that happening considering Trinity's pattern everyone was aware of.

Kinda sad to see Lithgow go. Glad he got what he deserved but gonna miss his creepiness.
 
I just got to see the last 2 episodes yesterday (living overseas, so I totally depend on internet to watch it, and had seasons downloaded for couple of weeks but didn't get around to watching it). Just like many, I sat there for few minutes after the last scene, because I just couldn't believe it. what an ending!! I freaking :heart: that show.
Next (and what seems like last) season should be quite interesting... can't wait!
 
I hated Rita a lot. Julie Benz is not a very good actress, and I'm glad she's out. Unless she's brought back again to join/replace Harry as Dexter's conscience. My god, I hope that doesn't happen.

This show will be misery porn next season. Seasons 1 and 2 were perfection, while 3 and 4 were very uneven. Now Season 5 will be devoid of any kind of humor, I'm guessing. I can't say I'm down with that.

I was thinking the same thing, and have been hoping they would never do that to us, please. Even Harry's appearances, although I understand they are part of Dexter's character and are necessary, are sometimes so frequent it wears a bit on me.

:hmm: I could see her being cast as some FBI or police investigator, investigating Dexter as a suspect in Rita's murder. He'll definitely be a suspect. :hmm:
 
Oh right like in the Bourne movies. Ok I can see that, I don't know why I was thinking of her Save the last dance performance :giggle:
 
OMG. :shocked: I finally caught up on Dexter so I can read this thread. Rita annoyed the shit out of me with her whisper voice (does she talk like that in real life??) but that finale was pretty gut wrenching. I freaking LOVE this show. I just wish I had Showtime so I could watch when everyone else does. Next season I'm going to try to find torrents to dl the episodes after they air. Supposed to be in the fall?
 
I got Showtime for the ONLY reason being Dexter. :reject:

Next season will be my first watching it in real time. :drool:

It starts back up in exactly 90 days :shifty:
 
I wanted to but it was something ridiculous like an extra $20 a month :sigh:

I cant wait though. 90 days is too far away!
 
Oh and you can get the episodes here pretty quick after they air.
