I felt that the scene with Elliott seemed like a fantasy (and I'm not sure it fit tonally to begin with), but this could have worked right where they've edited it here. And the end almost implied that the whole thing was imagined.

I enjoyed the extended sequence, too, even if it feels a little on-the-nose.

Gonna go see A Single Man tonight. Did anyone else get a chance to last/this year?
 
No, I didn't. I heard the term "art directed to death" a few times and didn't make it a priority.

Then you made a good call. It was more like "stylized to death" than anything else. Good performances from Mr. D'Arcy and Julianne Moore though.
