Best movie villains poll

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Yeah, for all of Voldy's background story the end result is a common garden variety evil figure who lusts after power and revenge.

Also get The Joker off there at least until after the movie's been released.

Good calls on Keyser Soze and Patrick Bateman!

I might also throw in:

John Doe - Seven
Jack Torrance - The Shining
Brick Top - Snatch
Sgt. Barnes - Platoon
Ash - Alien
Alex - Clockwork Orange
The demon possessing Regan in The Exorcist???
Mick - Wolf Creek
Commodus - Gladiator ("..busy little bees..")
Andy - Before The Devil Knows You're Dead
The juvenile prison guard (Kevin Bacon) from Sleepers

Arnie has to be up there from the first Terminator, totally intimidating and chilling, same with Robert Patrick for T2. I think the Predator was another top notch villain as well.

Very good call. I like her better than any of the other Disney villains mentioned. Cuz like, she can turn into a dragon? Which is BADASS.

Kevin Spacey from Seven
Denzel Washington from Training Day
and
Robert de Niro from Cape Fear. (sorry-I don't remember the names of the characters from these movies-only the actors)

Speaking of which, Ledger's Joker would fit between HAL and Lo Pan for me now... somewhere in that general area:

If we're doing personal picks:

1. Emperor Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid - Star Wars: Episodes I, II, III, and VI - '99, '02, '05, '83)
2. Bill the Butcher (Daniel Day-Lewis - Gangs of New York - '02)
3. Anton Chigurgh (Javier Bardem - No Country for Old Men - '07)
4. KHAAAAAAAN (Ricardo Motherfuckin' Montalban - Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan!!! - '82)
5. Darth Vader (James Earl Jones / David Prowse - Star Wars: Episodes IV, V, VI - '77, 80, '83)
6. Norman Bates (Anthony Perkins - Psycho - '60)
7. Michael Myers (Various - the Halloween series - '78-'04)
8. The Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger - The Terminator - '84)
9. Biff Tannen (Thomas F. Wilson - Back to the Future / Back to the Future Part II - '85, '89)
10. Roy Batty (Rutger Hauer - Blade Runner - '82)
11. HAL 9000 (Douglas Rain - 2001: A Space Odyssey - '68)
12. Lo Pan (James Wong - Big Trouble in Little China - '86)
13. Dr. Christian Szell (Laurence Olivier - Marathon Man - '76)
14. Dr. Hannibal Lector (Anthony Hopkins - The Silence of the Lambs - '91)
15. Patrick Bateman (Christian Bale - American Psycho - '00)
16. Count Dracula (Bela Lugosi - Dracula - '31)
17. Amon Goeth (Ralph Fiennes - Schindler's List - '93) - Hell, Nazis in general, or at least in Steven Spielberg films
18. Bill (David Carradine - Kill Bill - '03, '04)
19. Hans Gruber (Alan Rickman - Die Hard - '88)
20. Nurse Ratched (Louise Fletcher - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest - '75)

Also, Cocaine in Boogie Nights.

Sauron can still go fuck himself.

Oh fuck, has anyone mentioned Magua from Last of the Mohicans? He's just evil for the sake of being evil... I love it.

1. Khan! (Star Trek 2)
2. Bill The Butcher (Gangs of New York)
3. Frank (Once Upon A Time in the West)
4. Jack Torrence/The Overlook Hotel (The Shining)
5. T-1000 (Terminator 2)
6. Vader (Empire Strikes Back)
7. Agent Smith (The Matrix and sequels [bite me])
8. The Joker (Batman '89 [again])
9. Hans Gruber (Die Hard)
10. The Predator (Predator [fuck yeah])

Does Clubber Lang from Rocky III count? He was really mean to Adrienne. He wanted to do bad things to her. That's just wrong.

From the way he was smooth-talking her, it sounded like he wanted to be a little too nice, if you catch my drift.

Stansfield... forgot about him.

F*CK YES!!!

"Bingo"

So glad i found this thread... LemonMac you are awesome!!! Bill the Butcher and Stansfield are two of my favorite movie charachters of ALL TIME... villain or not. I would have Roy Batty on my list but it can be argued that he is, indeed, the protaganist of Blade Runner.:hmm:

Now that the Dark Knight is out I can add Heath Ledger as the Joker to the list (pressumably on behalf of most people in this thread, no?)

-Daniel Day Lewis as Bill The Butcher in Gangs of New York
-Gary Oldman as Stansfield in Leon the Professional
-Heath Ledger as the Joker in Dark Knight
-Bricktop in Snatch was one mean mother f*cker... he fed people to pigs and fought dags (dogs) against eachother.
