Wait a minute...why wasn't Secret World of Arietty nominated for Best Animated Film...Spirited Away was nominated in the year of its English release (as opposed to its original release date), wasn't it?

Ben wins the DGA award. I wonder how many winners of that award didn't even get a best director Oscar nomination. It's looking like that might have been the best thing to happen to him.

without the Directors nomination,
the only fair and decent thing to do is to be sure and vote for it to win best picture,
which keeps the academy from giving best picture to one of the other crappy nominations, lucky for them the f*cked up the directors noms.

Wow, Ben wins again. The people who nominate for the Oscars are really looking sort of silly right now. I assume it would be directors nominate directors? If so, well perhaps a bit of jealousy/he's not worthy yet feelings.

I liked Argo. It is a good movie.

If it had been directed by Steven Spielberg it would be considered a "lesser" work in the cannon

It's far more dull than it had any right to be. I don't know how Affleck managed to make it feel so humorless despite a brilliant plot. I agree that the writing was unremarkable.

I'm so excited to see The Master. Comes out on blu-ray next week.
