Aside from how awesome I think Madonna and Guy are together and how sad I would be if they did split up, I tend not to believe any Madonna rumors because of how numerous and ridiculous they are. Before she announced she was pregnant with Lourdes, people were swearing she had AIDS. Then last year, all the magazines had "on good authority" that she was adopting another child. Unless I hear it from Liz Rosenberg, I don't believe it.

Pop star Madonna and her film director husband Guy Ritchie are to divorce, Madonna's UK spokeswoman, Moira Bellas, confirmed to CNN.


Guy Ritchie and Madonna arrive at the world premiere afterparty of his movie RocknRolla in September.

A statement e-mailed to The Associated Press from Madonna spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg says the couple has agreed to divorce, and asks the media to respect their privacy.

The statement, co-signed by Ritchie's representative, says the couple had not agreed to a settlement.

The Sun newspaper -- a British tabloid -- first reported Wednesday that the couple would announce the split imminently.

Ritchie, 40, and Madonna married seven years ago at a lavish ceremony in Scotland, but rumors have been circulating in the press recently that their relationship was increasingly under strain.

Earlier this year, the singer denied being involved romantically with New York Yankees baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Rodriguez was eventually divorced from his wife.

The last time the couple was seen together in public was in September, when Madonna took a break from touring to celebrate her husband's birthday at a London pub.

A recent escalation in rows led to Madonna and Ritchie communicating via their personal assistants, The Sun reported.

"Despite huge attempts to patch things up they both know deep down that divorce was on the cards. It wasn't a matter of 'if' but 'when," The Sun, quoting a source, reported.

As Madonna announces her divorce from husband Guy Ritchie, a source close to the singer tells Usmagazine.com she and the New York Yankees slugger "are definitely romantic."

"Guy is not involved in this equation," the insider tells Usmagazine.com. "With or without A-Rod, Madonna and Guy haven't been 'together' for over a year - they have been privately separated. Madonna, however, wanted to finish her world tour before divorcing."

An A-Rod source tells Us, "A-Rod and Madonna are more involved than ever.

"Alex has really missed spending time with Madonna. However, he understands the position Madonna's in."

The source tells Us six days ago that Madonna -- who dined with Rodriguez Oct. 2 at Dos Caminos in NYC -- "has agreed to be discreet about her relationship with A-Rod until her tour ends and a divorce is announced."

Madonna has been linked to Rodriguez since early July when Us Weekly broke the news that he had been making late-night visits to her Central Park West apartment in New York City.

He would sneak out "as late as midnight," an insider told Us.

Around the time, Rodriguez's wife, Cynthia, filed for divorce because of Rodriguez's alleged extramarital affairs.

David Duchovny, who recently left rehab for sex addiction, and wife Tea Leoni released a statement Wednesday saying they have been separated for some time.

"In light of continuous speculation over the lives and marriage of Tea Leoni and David Duchovny, the couple has confirmed that they have in fact been separated for several months," the statement says. "The couple had hoped to keep this separation private for the sake of their children."
 
shame about Madge and Guy, but even in her Im Gonna Tell You documentary you can see slight strain. Its almost as if you notice he does not want to be on camera or with her, or finds himself feeling dumb when having to 'act' for certain shots, etc.

ah well. but I never knew about her romance. :doh:
 
A-Rod could have any woman in the world and he picks the 50 year old Madonna?

She's ok I guess but she's like 18 years older than the baseball player that she's apparently snogging now. That's kinda weird, right? I don't know.
 
well, this one time I saw an old schoolfriend of mine, who was prob 21/22 at the time kissing a bloke aged in his 60s prob.

some guys are attracted to older women, older women into younger guys.

but with madonna, I say she is very exploring behind the closed doors! :D:D
 
Yeah, you're right. And there are a lot of celebrity couples with big age differences. Michael Douglas is 115 years old and Catherine Zeta-Jones is like 73.

another non shocker... half the time I am more surprised when these people get married in the first place...
 
I dunno .. now I'm hearing rumblings that a) he never actually cheated on Tea, it was a porn addiction; and b) Tea was the one who stepped out on him with Billy Bob Thornton.

To which I say: ew.

I was actually thinking of you when I made that comment. You were (are?) more plugged into the fandom. I was a much more casual fan. Is his supposed douchiness a common knowledge kind of thing, or did I just happen to read a bunch of random, negative comments on gossip sites (which is very likely)?
 
I honesty don't know - I haven't been in the X-Files fandom in years. I just read the big stuff like the sex addition and separation of general gossip sites.

I'd heard rumors of him cheating in the past, but I don't know that I've ever heard anything about him being a douche. (Although if he's a big cheating ho, then that would automatically make him a douchebag, so there's that.)

I'd only heard random stuff about the cheating, mentions here and there, and not very often. So I dunno.
