American Idol - Season 9

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Like usual I'll have to agree with Simon. Casey brought nothing to that song and it was identical to Huey Lewis. He sang it well but as Simon says, "so what?" It was like listening to an 80s cover band.

Randy Jackson has like 3 sayings. I lol all night.

So, I stopped watching after Andrew to catch Lost. Crystal was on a different plane of existence than the rest of the ones I saw. She took an obvious choice and still brought something fresh. I will catch Siobhan later.

Were there any others in the second half of the show worth watching?

Just caught Siobhan's performance. Not as good as last week. She needs to stop with the screaming. That should be used very judiciously. I loved her hair and still adore the tone of her voice.

I suffered thru it all. Can we send most of them home already and get down to the finals? After tonight, several people should be going home. I'm talking to you Paige, and yes, Andrew. You took a great song, and just... you were so flat :tsk: So many songs to choose from and almost all of them chose poorly. :banghead:

Crystal  Siobhan was good, but yeah, too much screaming is not a good thing.

Meh

I love Siobhan, she's got bundles of talent, she's a genuine goofball, great smile, those glasses are hilarious, etc. but, yes, she should not go for the big scream note every week. It should be like a secret weapon that she only unleashes when facing a really tough bad guy. She's the best, though.

Crystal is consistently very good, although this was not my favorite of hers.

Big Mike...eh, I don't know, still not much of a fan but I thought he gave a pretty darn good vocal tonight.

Didn't think DiDi was as bad as the judges said, and was a bit surprised when they tore her up.

Tim Urban never fails to fail.

And I think Paige will probably be gone tomorrow.

This season is awful. I am shocked that this is as good as we can get for the final group. I guess the really good and talented don't audition for American Idol anymore.

Crystal is really the only saving grace IMO. The men are horrible.

I agree

and the whole Miley thing was just beyond a joke....I mean really? Miley Cyrus a mentor? who are they trying to kid here? I also stopped watching the second hour to watch Lost, but flipped back during comercials enough to hear a bit of all the songs except Siobahn...did not catch any of her performance...Crystal is the only contender here...but she will probably not win because of the "haters" voting for others instead of her, which will be a shame

At this point, it doesn't matter if Crystal wins or not. She'll obviously be in the Top Ten, and she'll have a recording career. I'd pay $$$ for an album of hers, I thought she was fantastic last night. I really thought she and Siobahn were neck and neck a few weeks ago but there's, for me, no comparison any longer.

The men continue to be useless. Fucking Tim.

As for the Miley thing, clearly, she's on to appeal to her fan base in order to garner ratings. This is, after all, a Television show. I sort of zoned out when she gave her advice then paid attention once again when the performances started. Didn't really bother me all that much.

Results

Bottom 3
Paige
Tim
Katie

and the one going home is...

PAIGE!!!

PAIGE MILES IS ELIMINATED – Judges refuse to save her, before she has a chance to sing.

That last part

Lordamercy. . .

Last night was painful to watch. So many subpar contestants, and then watching them get rightfully hammered by the judges. . .well, that was uncomfortable too. It's bad enough to watch someone fail, but then to have that failure expounded on in detail. Ouch.

I really wish there were a better group of contestants.

I was happy with who was sent home tonight, though there were a good three more at least that needed to go home just as much.

I'm glad that we've discovered Crystal though. Can't wait till her album comes out.

re: part of Lila's spoiler

Didn't they do that with Lacey, too? They told her they weren't going to use their "save" before she sang? I bet they'll have someone sing and let them think they have a chance soon, and then give them the boot.

They'll probably only use their "save" if Crystal gets unexpectedly eliminated.

Good choice for the boot. A little surprised to see Katie in the bottom 3.

I agree Sicy.

And no, Lacey got to sing. They told
Paige
that they wouldn't use the save before
she
sang.

I'm curious, how long have you been watching this show? Because that happens every week. It's a huge part of the show and what's made it successful...the judges often tell the performers how bad they were, in detail. It's just not nothing new.

As for the result, America got it right. Tim is worse, but he's a hell of a lot more fun to laugh at than Paige.

I also like the new adjustment they've made (finally after 9 seasons) in that the eliminated contestant doesn't have to sing the song they sang the previous night and can pick a favorite song of theirs from throughout the competition. I've always wondered why in the past they made the defeated singer sing the song that got them eliminated. It just didn't make sense, and was cruel. Seacrest: "You're going home, now let me give you the microphone so you can give us the performance that didn't inspire anyone to vote for you!"

I thought that was the rumor for months already? Or was it more just speculation of what would happen after Simon left?

They should end the show. Put us it out of our its misery.

^Yeah, Ryan said the other day that he'd be wiling to leave Idol for X Factor which I'd love to see. Cancel Idol, and bring Paula, Randy, and Ryan with Simon over to X. Those 4 are what make that show tick. Like them or not, they have great chemistry, and the originals are what made the show fun to watch.

So it'd just be Idol with a different name. Meh. I don't know how excited I'd get about it with the entire set of original* monkeys Idol had.
