Burlesque? :lmao: Thought it was horrible. Tourist? It was an enjoyable fluff 2 hour escape w/ beautiful Angie and clothes and jewelry and scenery but come on. They couldn't come up with better than that? I thought Red was really bad too. Going back to the old joke days of the GG. I saw The Fighter last Friday and thought it was simply awesome-especially Bale. Very well directed too. Wouldn't nominate Wahlberg though.

Didn't think Kids Are All Right was a comedy.

Burlesque? :lmao: Thought it was horrible. Tourist? It was an enjoyable fluff 2 hour escape w/ beautiful Angie and clothes and jewelry and scenery but come on. They couldn't come up with better than that?

You said it. My god, this is the worst year I've seen for the Globes, especially in the Comedy/Musical category.

Burlesque, Tourist, and Alice In Wonderland? None of those films reviewed well, at all. The first two were completely panned.

I haven't seen it, but I find it very hard to believe that Country Strong is a less deserving nominee than those three films in that category. And that's just one example. Damn, that category is weaaaaaaaaaaak. Hell, if you're going to give Emma Stone a nom for Easy A (which makes me happy) why not give the movie itself a nom in that category? It was WAY better received than Burlesque, Tourist, and Alice.

The television noms aren't as bad, though I would have loved to have seen Community get a nomination after some of the momentum it's picked up this season. Oh well. Go 30 Rock, and Lea Michele.

Also, this isn't the first or last time I'll say this, but I would absolutely LOVE for Natalie Portman to win as many big awards as she can for Black Swan. She is wonderful, and deserving of all the accolades and the spotlight.

Country Strong doesn't even come out anywhere until Dec 22nd :) Haven't seen Black Swan but I can't wait, it opens wide this Friday.

Even the music in Burlesque wasn't good. Was it better than Showgirls?

I guess there was a lack of quality movies this year. I thought "The Tourist" bombed this past weekend and I have yet to read one good review about "Burlesque". Also I had no idea "The Tourist" is a comedy.

I saw "Alice In Wonderland" a few weekends ago and I think that movie is worth a nomination as is Inception.

I of course will watch and eat my annual Chinese takeout as I watch the red carpet madness.

The Tourist is a comedy? And Burlesque?

Well, it is the Golden Globes and they do worship the A-List, so that sort of explains it but still.

Damn, I've only seen Inception on the best pictures list. I'm debating whether to see Black Swan now or wait till Best Picture Showcase.

The Academy will have a better list. You'll likely have all 5 dramas, Toy Story 3, maybe the Kids Are Alright and likely True Grit. Still leaves 2 slots probably for 127 Hours and Winter's Bone?

I'd love to see The Good Wife and/or Julianna Marguiles win in their categories, but I don't know that I can get on board with Chris Noth being nominated over Alan Cumming.

I of course will watch and eat my annual Chinese takeout as I watch the red carpet madness.

Hey, that's usually what my friends and I do.

Oh yeah, I did see Alice in Wonderland. I think

:hmm: I see it left a great impression on you. :sexywink:

I need to see The Kings Speech and Black Swan. I've heard fab things about both, and I love Colin Firth and Natalie Portman.

I don't know that I can get on board with Chris Noth being nominated over Alan Cumming.

As much as I enjoy the show, I know that I can't.

You know it's been a kick-ass year cinematically when Mark Wahlberg, James Franco, Mila Kunis, Burlesque and Red get nominations.

Golden Globes are ridiculous. As off-target as the Oscars often are, the Golden Globes are several levels of hell below that.

And, yeah, The Tourist looks hilarious

I read that the Hollywood Foreign Press likes to vote also on star power and The Tourist and Burlesque both have it despite bad reviews. I'm sure the Oscars will be different and even with 10 slots for best picture both of those stand no chance.

I'm a bit miffed by Community getting snubbed. I tried watching it last season and couldn't quite get into it; but then I decided to give it another chance and I really like it. The cast has great chemistry.

But the Tourist and Burlesque? WTF? Tourist is getting shit reviews. And Burlesque looks like Showgirls 2: Electic Boogaloo.

I believe failing to nominate Shutter Island and True Grit makes me question the Golden Globes entirely
