Who is ready and willing to say YES?

*and why*

Any rebels?

(I live in the U.S. and always vote Libertarian, so like many here in my own country, you might discount my view.)

What do you think?

Well the EU is up and running for quite a few years now so I'm not sure precisely what qestion you're asking.

Speaking for myself: yes to most of it with some reservations about the more regulatory and bureaucratic aspects.

However I welcome the recent thread towards enlargement.

Ditto... The EU has been a fact on the ground since 1992, really much longer than that if you consider it as the logical outcome of processes set in motion by the EEC's creation in 1957. Yes, they're currently having sharp disagreements over the proposed Constitution, but these are disagreements over the degree to which E(E)C, Euratom, policing, foreign policy etc. ought to be consolidated into one fully integrated EU structure. It's not a disagreement over whether the EU should exist at all.

financeguy, is there such a thing as a definitive European libertarian view of the EU?

Not really. There is no real organised libertarian movement like the Libertarian Party in America.

There are certainly eurosceptic politicians and commentators - but A_Wanderer is correct in saying that the Eurosceptic movement is a collection of various interests.

In Britian, eurosceptics tend to be pro-free market rightwingers, but in other countries they are often (though not always) socialists or greens.
