Oh, melon! I love that piece you posted. Now I'm laughing out loud instead of chuckling.

Excellent article, melon.

It's classic, actually. Classic Psyche 101. The louder someone judges others about their morality (or tendencies), the more in denial they are about their own stuff. The jealous boyfriend who is convinced his girlfriend is cheating on him, is usually the one cheating. The self-righteous homophobe is often gay. My officemate who constantly expresses shock over how loud some people are and how much they talk has no earthly idea that it is she who is the loudest person on the planet and never stops talking. I have seen this in myself as well.

"Judge not, lest ye be judged."

The judge is now getting his comeuppance.

Let's not confuse the judge with the one who witnesses to the law.

None of us should be judges - that is God's role.

We all should encourage each other to live a Godly life.

Different roles, often confused.

An argument of semantics, and one that is terribly abused.

Wow, very interesting.

nbcrusader, i wonder if people applied those same guidlines to clinton when he was in public scrutiny for personal matters.

it's just a shame that he can waste soooooooooo much money (other people's money, probably mine ) while his ROLE is to be concerned for and help improve lives of others.

I hope we don't find ourselves in the position where any comment approving or disapproving behavior of anyone other than ourselves or making any statement of what should or should not be is considered "judgment".

For if we ban this type of "judgment", FYM would be an empty forum.

Of course not. Unfortunately, an element of US politics seems to be an effort to derail any opponent over any issue. Clinton's veracity didn't make good headlines, so infidelity became the "issue".

As for Bennet - how he spent his own money does not match what we would call a standard for "role model" (though that may imply "judging" - what Bennet should do).

Also, I would say, in some way, it is everyone's role to be concerned for and help improve lives of others.

I certainly agree that it is hypocritical of the man to be defining what the morals of so many people should be, but I think he clearly is in denial of a serious addiction. I do believe that gambling can become a serious addiction, similar to alcohol or drugs.

He definitely should have been looking inward at himself rather than spending so much time judging others. But I think I can safely say we all as humans should be doing that. The arrogance of moral superiority is a very dangerous thing, as he has learned.

And if he has that kind of money to gamble away, I think it's safe to assume he's out of touch w/ the average, struggling American.
