Why was the WAR forum closed?

I haven't been on this site in a while, I don't know whats going on.

Hi Infinitum, welcome back. We closed WAR because the majority of folks who browsed and/or posted in it felt that the Iraq threads were effectively being ghettoized by being relegated there. And they were right, too--both the view counts and the post counts for Iraq threads have gone way up since we got rid of that forum back in March.

We do ask that if someone has Iraq-related news or issues they want to post, that they first check the last few days of posting activity to make sure there isn't already an active Iraq thread they might appropriately post it to, rather than creating a whole new thread. The reason why WAR was created to begin with was because FYM kept getting clogged with too many Iraq threads. However, since Iraq is no longer The One Big Issue, that hasn't been a problem of late.
