Who are these liberals you speak of? Personally I do not define myself as a liberal, I cannot speak for others.

Because conservatives are not adhering to the "inherit" word of god.... yet they act self-righteously. Just watch bible TV for 3 minutes.

Oh wait a minute, yeah god approves of war, just the special exception of American rightwing christians.. they are exempt from the "love they neighbour"... its written in the bible, gotta find it though.

Nbcrusader, what i mean to say is, how is the right wing cognizant with god's word?

Any examination of virtues and morals presented in the bible, will lead one to the inevitable conclusion, that the right wing fiscal and social policies are not cognizant, in any fashion, with the teachings of Jesus...

There's actually a movement among Christians to "reclaim the faith" so to speak. I've got a bumper sticker on my car that says "God is not a Republican...or a Democrat." (I think it's one of the most powerful stickers you can by nowadays.)
I got it from Sojourners (www.sojo.net), a Christian organization that talks about faith, politics and culture and really tries to look at it and change things from a true, Biblical perspective — not one tainted by partisan politics, fashion or the latest trend.
Their main guy there, Jim Wallis, recently came out with a book "God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It."
Here's a blurb on it: "Since when did believing in God and having moral values make you pro-war, pro-rich, and pro-Republican? And since when did promoting and pursuing a progressive social agenda with a concern for economic security, health care, and educational opportunity mean you had to put faith in God aside?
"God's Politics offers a clarion call to make both our religious communities and our government more accountable to key values of the prophetic religious tradition - that is, make them pro-justice, pro-peace, pro-environment, pro-equality, pro-consistent ethic of life (beyond single issue voting), and pro-family (without making scapegoats of single mothers or gays and lesbians). These are the values of love and justice, reconciliation, and community that Jesus taught and that are at the core of what many of us believe, Christian or not."

If that's not cool enough for you, check out this quote from a very wise man that's found on the back of the book:

"The Left mocks the Right. The Right knows it's right. Two ugly traits. How far should we go to try to understand each other's point of view? Maybe the distance grace covered on the cross is a clue."

- BONO, lead singer of U2

It's not a matter of wheather you're conservative or liberal, it's a matter of wheather or not you're doing what the Bible says.

While the Bible was liberal in Jesus' day, it's not anymore. That's not what's important.

And what the heck? Jesus is against war? I'm sorry but that's simply not true. Jesus is a god of love which also means he's a god of punishment. If you think Jesus didn't condone war I suggest you read through the Bible again.

Of course he's against unrighteous war, but that's a completely other discussion.

Both of those articles were fantastic and I agree with them completely. Why can't all Christians think more like these people?

Maybe that's the point people are trying to make. Of course Christ wasn't against fighting the Nazis.

the guy said turn the other cheek, didnt he? how is that a pro-war statement?

and the idea of 'god of punishment' is plain ridiculous.

I'm pretty sure the "turn the other cheek" statement was aimed at more personal disputes between people.

Again, If you disagree that Jesus condones war I think you should read the Bible. There's a ton of war and killing in there...

And I'm sorry but Bono's no authority on the Bible.

Yes, if you love than you punish. Just like a parent does. God punishes us because he loves us.

Yes, according to the Catholicism, war is alright.

That is, just war is alright.

(Edit: "Just" meaning "deserved," not "only." Just to clarify.)

Yes, just war is the only war that's condoned by God. I'm saying the "turn the other cheek" argument doesn't apply here.
