OK, the problem I have with this article is that he has his own rather rigid interpretation of Christianity. He doesn't like conservatives, plain and simple. I'm different. I do not agree with a conservative interpretation of Christianity, but I have many friends who do. There are conservatives in my parish. There is a wonderful nun who runs our Adult Education programs who is conservative. I am more liberal, I prefer to vote Democratic, and I wouldn't mind living in a political environment like that of Iceland's at all. But there is no one correct interpretation of Christianity, and I like to think Jesus has room for all of us. We're always going to have disagreements like this.

I am suppressed that this thread was not shut down! Very interesting reactions to your post and mine. I think when it comes to different countries and cultures it is hard for us to understand each others ways. I believe...and I am stating my belief, my opinion....that as long as we are not compromising God's Word we are doing what we are supposed to. What would Bono say? I BELEIVE he would say...."Love and Peace"!!!!

Ha! Made me laugh! I guess some people are weirded out by FYM... Just goes to show how different people are...I find the Goal is the Soul (or whatever it's called) very uncomfortable. It's just too lovey-dovey. Gives me the willies! :shrug: :)
 
It`s not about the polilitics, it`s a about hatred and biggotry. A faith was singled out, the christian faith. Every time you point the finger there is always 4 pointing back at you. Are you going to get weirded out if some one discrmenates you based on belief or race, you gonna smile still and say its all right, i`m cool, i`m not like the rest of you. I`m better than you, like they say in Ireland; piss off .
 
Last I heard Lutherans were part of the Christain faith.

Just becasue we're not a *breathe* fundamentalist or extreme literalist religion doesn't make us any less Christian.

Even among Lutherans there are several layers of worship. Some are more rigid and we call theM "high Church services, closer to mass or Church of England.
My church is a small rural church - jeans welcome - very relaxed and nurturing. We also have a Pastor from the Presbyterian faith ( we joined a few years ago to share clergy and other involvements. I must say he is my favorite Pastor in my entire life, and at 44 that's saying alot.

There is plenty of hatred and bigotry within religion, just like anything else. Perhaps you should look within.

I would be interested if you would cite where Muslims are regarded as terrorists en masse here. I probably post more on that issue than most others but I make the distinction between all Muslims being terrorists and all of a particular group of terrorists being Muslim.

My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek, naxos -- hence the :ohmy: after the comment. I don't get offended that easily -- hell, I'd be offended all the time if that was the case! I thought it was quite funny. I still think it's funny...even more so now. ;)

Then, why do you as a moderater allow such attacks, verbal they be, on other religions like christianty and the personel attacks on a fundamentalist preacher like Pat Robertson? Both attacks were incited by Scarlettwine. Prove to me that this board isn`t 2 faced! Yes it is my wish that this board WAS more CIVIL. I hope that the Administrator and the moderators maintain a civil board .
 
I'm trying to find where Scarletwine attacked Robertson and I'm not finding it.

I would recommend to you that you read through FYM a bit more and think things through before continuing to post here.

look harder! and start moderating, whats the point in being a moderator if you don`t moderate? i say that to all the moderators here at the board! I don`t like threats, ban be already! this board is toxic. I hope that in the future the administrator will correct that, and find moderators who will moderate!
