Normal Who Holds the REAL Constitutional Power?

Not the members of the Supreme Court, but the clerks!

Blackmun Clerks Had Too Much Power, Says Historian

To clerk for a Supreme Court Justice is probably the best job to take right out of law school. The clerks research all the cases, and draft most of the opinions.

It looks like Blackmun is the focus of the article because he preferred to communicate in writing.

Thank God then for some of the clerks. Anybody ever read Woodward's The Brethren?

Stephen Breyer used to be a clerk, now he's the most recent justice. We just did a unit on the supreme court in gov't but only barely touched on the clerks.

Heh, great job to "take."

If you went to one of: HYS. And maybe a couple of others to round off the "diversity."

There will be no taking for the rest.

I had a friend who got tired of this bullshit and went to clerk at the Hague instead (her JD was from Cornell).

Anybody who's ever seen "Yes, Prime Minister" already knew this.
