no offense, but this is really just speculation until there is some corroborating evidence. I live in a rural town in MA where I know the vote was tallied correctly. Bush won aroudn 65% of the vote. Voter registration is highly Democratic. On the surface this would appear erroneous. What it doesn't take into account is the demographic profile that favors a Bush victory.

If this were a real story, I think the NY Times would be all over it. I'm still waiting for the stories on why the foreign military vote was suppressed in some areas.

Speculation is that the mainstream media is avoiding the topic now because it resembles the 2000 debacle too much. NCB, through Keith Olbermann, has begun to run the story. Other news agents are slowly following suit.

The most significant evidence so far can be found following the first link I provided in my lead post.

Look at the evidence provided before making any final verdicts.

This is a pretty non-accustitory article laying out what is known so far.

Kerry did when he called Bush.

one way or another, there is something amiss in this situation.

as a professional who has been involved in public opinion polling, it is difficult to grasp how the firms purported to 'foremost' in the field (i am inferring this as fact because they were likely funded by major media outlets to run exit polls. mom & pop pub. op. shops arent going to get contracts) can be so fundamentally wrong.

either the exit polls were so far off the actual vote that something sinister may have occurred in the tabulation/fabrication of those exit poll numbers, OR

voting machines did not correctly report what voters chose, as was correctly expressed via the exit polls.

perhaps somewhere in between but this should definitely be of concern. brushing this off because 99 votes were screwy and bush won by a 100 is laughable.

evidence seems to break either way.

i remember the afternoon of the election when blogs started posting the early kerry-favored exit polls (and they were reported here). this seems like one good way to commence the dissemination of misinformation-feeding the same numbers to the media is also beneficial. the more prevalent the information is, the truer it is.

it is also entirely possible that these exit polls were entirely correct and voting machines mis-recorded, as evidence in these articles suggests is known to have happened.

a good, even handed analysis iron chef kobe. i agree. until there are cold hard facts this whole screw up could go either way. that said, i think the electoral college is ridiculous and if bush took the popular vote, he should be president...of course this is my opinion. p.s. not that i want him to be.

secondly, did anyone else read an article about how one of bush's aides sat him down tuesday night and informed him that he had lost the election? i can't remember where i saw this.

This is known and is effectively a non-issue...even according to some higher ups in the DNC.

http://abcnews.go.com/WNT/story?id=239735&page=1

specifically, look at the fact that some of these same viting patterns occured in the highly scrutinized 2000 election.
