I would just like to know where everyone likes to go for news, current events. etc.

I always like having a lot of different places to check out, some of my favorites are:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/
http://www.indymedia.org/ - I like this place because many large cities have their own sites you can access and see local articles, pictures, and accounts from what is going on
http://www.amnesty.org/
http://www.alternet.org/
http://www.cnn.com/

It's always good to share sources, so what are some of yours?

www.commondreams.org -- "An eclectic mix of politics, issues and breaking news with an emphasis on progressive perspectives that are increasingly hard to find with our corporate-dominated media." Posts articles from newspapers from around the world.

www.democracynow.org -- the best news coverage in the U.S., in my opinion. Amy Goodman is a national treasure.

And I like these two that you mentioned:

www.indynet.org
www.alternet.org

cnn.com
cnnfn.com
drudge report
fuckedcompany.com
fox news
iwon.com
msnbc.com
mtv.com
vh1.com
new york observer
new york daily news
new york post
new youk times
rolling stone
wabc.com
wnbc.com

news.com.au
theage.com.au
smh.com.au
guardian.co.uk
telegraph.co.uk
independent.co.uk
cnn.com
time.com
abc.net.au
abc.net.au/mediawatch
washingtonpost.com
chicagosuntimes.com

If i want a conservative's point of view, I ask Bama. :sexywink:

The Wall Street Journal Online -- wsj.com [because I work there]
New York Times -- nytimes.com
CNN -- cnn.com

Indymedia - www.indymedia.org is one of the best for reading stories that are typically ignored by mainstream media.

BBC Online - www.bbc.co.uk/news/ - up to date, easy to understand and find info.

Guardian Online - www.guardian.co.uk - UK newspaper, theoretically on the 'left' usually has some good columnists writing for the paper.

Zmag - www.zmag.org - good for interesting analysis of the news.

Wow, joygirl, those websites are incredibly biased. Are you okay with getting your news through such a biased filter?

Not as much, no. Everytime I do a websearch on a far-left idea, commondreams.org always comes us. Most mainstream news organizations don't ADVOCATE one side while ignoring the other side completely.

You can joke all you want about the bias in mainstream news, but I'll only take you seriously when CNN, MSNBC, or FOX posts these article titles on their website:

No to a Far-Right Court: Use Filibusters...
President Bush Asks NOT What You Can Do For Your Country...
Iraq Invasion Will Trigger 'Human Catastrophe,' Report Warns
Place a "Attack Iraq? No!" bumper sticker on your car!
World Bank Continues to Back Polluting Incinerators...

Hahaha..it's not even close to mainstream media. Sorry, FizzingWhizzbees, not even close.

I read CNN.com and FoxNews.com. Occasionally, I read the Yahoo.com news for quick stuff.

I also watch msnbc, cnn, BBC USA, and read the New York Times and sometimes The Economist. I get plenty of news from mainstream media. It's kind of in-your-face. But I do go out of my way to find news from independent (non-corporate-owned) sources. I feel it balances things out and I don't automatically assume that everything I read on commondreams.org is the gospel truth.

Ok, sorry about that. When you listed just a couple news sources and they were commondreams and democracynow, I thought you were posting your only news sources.

I pretty much get my news from Yahoo, because much of it comes from Reuters\AP without a lot of filtering. Yahoo's bias shows when they determine what stories deserve to make it to the main page. Strange, but I don't find that the winner of American Idol needs to be posted on the mainpage for everyone to see.
