You're wrong, it's not that black and white.

Like what's been said they do pay some taxes.

But then again our rich get tax breaks, so really what's the big deal?

Um, okay. What do you call the deductions that are taken from their paychecks? Donations?

Edited to add: My former husband was in the US illegally. He worked with fake documents and trust me, he paid taxes just like everyone else. So did his illegal co-workers, brothers, aunts, uncles and cousins.

well, 500,000 people marched in LA yesterday, so it seems as if someone has some organizational skills.

Before we continue….I need to remind everyone that there are thousands of LEGAL immigrants from south of the border.
They all have the paperwork that allows them to live here, work here, pay taxes, insurance and health care.
Illegals however are a burden to our society if they tap into the amount of government issued services that taxpayers shell out.
Get the paperwork, do the requirements, become legal, and enjoy the rights you earned.
With this said, President Bush is proposing a way for those already here to stay, but to play by the rules. So do you suppose half those protestors may actually be marching in support of what he is proposing???

Ok now send them back and have them start building a better Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Columbia, etc......

Since my tax money goes to educate their kids and hospital visits, I should have the right to take that money from them.

It is illegal to hire illegals.
To work here legally you need a social security number so you can pay your income taxes.
If you are working with fake documents then you and your employer are lying to the government.
This is an example of why we have so many problems---thanks for contributing.

You don't get it, they don't have the economy to "help out" their own country. If they could live in Mexico doing the same exact job, I'm sure they would.

How can you blame the immigrants, they're trying to support their families.

Which is dividing Republicans. Go figure Bush can do something that Republicans don't blindly follow...

This country would fall apart without their work. It is not about helping their own country. We have ignored the problem for so long, we as a society are dependant on their labor.

This is absolutely besides the point. In business, those who succeed often look for unrecognized voids in the marketplace. I certainly do not expect a mass exodus of Americans to flee the country. And why would they? But there are a minority of us out there who would like to have the world at our fingertips. And why not? American multinational corporations already have it, and nobody has called them "un-American" for doing just that.

As historians would wryly remark, the entire history of world civilization has been built on slave labor.

I feel compeled to add that the government services these illegals are receiving are arranged because of the party/laws/people in place in Washington, voted there by us.
If these services are available to them why wouldn't illegals take advantage of them?
The fact is that the people making the laws create an environment in which they stand to gain politically from the illegals and enact laws
to "help" them.

Now there's a novel idea!
Mexico is probably the richest nation in the Spanish speaking world. Where does all that money go? The oil money, the tourist revenue? Copper mines, etc?
We would be better off invading the place and changing the system down there.
