Mike Huckabee is running for president? I lose track of who is on the lunatic train at any one time. As of today, I guess we've now got Rick "I've changed my look to look intellectual" Perry, Mike "I make rape-y comments while parading family values" Huckabee, Ted "Not only am I fucking crazy, but now I'm an insensitive jerk, too!" Cruz, and good ol' Rick Santorum. Should be quite the fun primary.

Right now Hillary would have to murder someone in order to lose.

I wouldn't, objectively, discount Jeb. But yeah he's a long shot considering a lot of social stances.

Again, Scott Walker is his only competition. Jeb will definitely be hurt by those on the far, far right wanting to go with somebody else, but they're going to split the vote between so many other guys that Jeb will fare alright in a lot of the early states. The longer more people stay in the race, the more likely Jeb wins via attrition since they cancel each other out.

The worst thing that could happen to Jeb is for someone like Walker to win the early states or be the only real challenger left after New Hampshire. Otherwise, he's got a $100,000,000 war chest behind him already.

At the end of the day, the guy who is not desired from the far right usually receives the bid though, no? Highest odds of winning independents.

Theoretically, they would do better with undecideds than someone on the far right. If you can effectively win the establishment/moderate vote in the Republican primary the way Romney did last time, you're almost guaranteed the nomination.

For what it's worth, McCain and Romney both polled the best of any major Republican candidate against the Democratic contenders/Obama in the last two elections. So they were the most strategically sensible picks.

It's not so clear cut this time as to whom has that honor among this GOP field. Had BridgeGate never happened, it would be Christie by a mile. He was polling ahead of Clinton in various polls before that. I get the feeling a lot of idiots would have voted for him simply because he's fat...identity politics at its most loathsome.

I think this time they'll get their nutso far-right candidate in somebody like Walker. He'll lose by a landslide and they'll just blame it on the liberal media and continue to tank further Presidential elections.

Scott Walker

You could've done better with Ted Cruz, just sayin.

Ted Cruz is a vile, disgusting, bigoted, homophobic, sleazy, POS. He's smart and a smooth talker, like the typical lawyer lobbyist that he is, but clearly shady as all hell. I'm not entirely convinced who the real Ted Cruz is, but at this point the guy who is the darling of the tea people is enough of a poster boy for white supremacy trash to embarrass the likes of even Rush Limbaugh. (Okay maybe not).

While some may not be able to put a finger on the moment that Cruz set them on fire, i guess for me it's that constant and condescending smile he has on his face, with that fake charm in his speech. He smiles at you while he's telling you how much better he is than you, all the while asking for your vote, for your money, and you might not even realize what he is up to.

Yes he is one who helped lead the charge for the budget crisis a few years ago which ended up with, among other things, Govt and DOD personnel getting furloughed without pay in the summer of 2013. And also the government shutdown later on that year. And let's not forget his fillibuster-anti-Obamacare tirade in which he spoke for nearly an entire day, while reading Dr. Seuss to his children from the capitol floor. On the tax payers dime, no less.

This is the same guy who wants to "abolish the IRS" and send all of those IRS agents to guard the border. Why? Because, well i have no idea why actually, other than maybe it sounds "good" and revs up the tea people base perhaps. You know this is a lie though, as in, it's all pomp and circumstance or empty rhetoric. Yet the tea people eat this stuff up and shout from a mouthful of nothing slogans like "LIBERTY!" and "CONSTITUTION!" (and im sure there are some God, Guns, & Gay's references thrown into the mix as well just for good measure).

Ted Cruz, who is also registered for Obamacare now, is the ultimated birther hypocrite. His father, who fought for communism with Fidel Castro, is a crazy fanatical preacher who makes Huckabee and the rest of the "good ole boy" con-servatives look somewhat wholesome. Cruz, who was born in Canada (yeah thanks a fucking lot Cana-duh!) is somehow perfectly qualified to run for POTUS in the eyes of the tea people, even though the current occupant of the WH is still a communist/marxist/terrorist in their minds.

Cruz is obviously pulling the wagon for some unseen force or group of people. He is the figure-head for the crazy fringe of the republican party. Much like Palin was in 2008, and Santorum was in 2012 (or anyone to the Right of Romney was, for that matter). I don't know exactly who these unseen forces or people are, but they are a real danger to this country. Unlike Al Qaeda or ISIS, these people will destroy the country from within.

That's just one theory. Another theory goes a little bit differently, but here goes. Cruz is everything i said he was, but for different reasons. He might just be the crazy du jour for this election cycle, as Santorum and Palin were for the previous two cycles, but this time perhaps the power players behind the scenes know he has little chance at pulling it off based on the past two elections. So maybe they are using Cruz as a sort of "decoy" for their real guy, like perhaps, Walker. Under this scenario, Cruz enters the race first, says a lot of crazy shit, woos some and terrifies others, has the media foaming at the mouth over him like they did Palin, and draws a lot of heat away from the other guys. Instead of tarnishing the entire brand, under this plan, Cruz is so loathsome that the rather large field of candidates very publicly distance themselves from this guy. The average undecided person or Independent might have a little respect for Jeb or Walker if those two moderate to the left of him on every issue, specifically social issues, and look somewhat like a reasonable guy. Cruz folds up shop at the beginning of 2016 in time to give the moderates still in the field a chance to unite behind one they think can defeat Hillary.

Or maybe im full of shit, Cruz and the tea people really are that crazy, and the country is totally fucked. I'd like to think not, as these super-secretive GOP conferences held in tucked away lodges and resorts have to be full of secrets and strategies on how they can control us and yet still make us smile and want more of it.

Ted Cruz, if i haven't expressed this before, let me say it now and forever; fuck you, fuck your supporters, and fuck the covered wagon that you didn't ride in on, you pathetic phony liquid turd.

So far on this thread I have seen various posters say they hate Rubio, hate Rand Paul, and hate Ted Cruz.

I'm not sure if I have anybody that I would go so far as to say I would hate. I think Eric Holder and Harry Reid are despicable people, but I don't hate them. I'm afraid the GOP debates might cause some of you to self-combust.
