You know, many people of color and/ or minorities find it insulting that liberals think they’re too stupid to figure out how to get an ID to vote. Everything else you need an ID for, but in order to prove you’re eligible to vote, it’s racist or disenfranchisement. Gotcha.
Oh stop.

To LN7's earlier point... if it didn't work to their advantage, they wouldn't push it so hard.

Likewise, if it didn't disadvantage Democrats, Democrats wouldn't care so much.

So if you want to argue that it's not racist in intent? Sure, fine. You can make that point.

But please don't pretend that Republicans are so gung-ho to pass these laws because they care so much about voter integrity. You're insulting everyone's intelligence by doing that.

I also think it’s best to ignore his nonsense.

Would be nice to hear Bluer White’s thoughts on how Trump comes across on this issue...

My take? The president should still donate the $1 million he was blathering on about anyway.

Innocent until chopped up body pieces found!

Really, I was kind of hoping one of the major positives of Trump was going to be that his machismo would’ve eventually had him barking at Saudi Arabia and that we could wean off our gross ties with them. That government is filled with awful intention.

Nope.

He gets money from them. So they're cool.

It's obvious that Trump is ruled by self interest in Saudi Arabia. He's impressed by all the rich people there too, it's definitely not a shithole country. So if they chop up journalists, oh well.

As for Elizabeth Warren, she allegedly used her Native American ancestry to get preferential treatment in admission to Harvard . Trump says that's the only reason she got in, that's typical of him. To denigrate women (and both genders) who stand up to him. She seems intelligent enough to me to deserve admission anyway. Trump road his father's coattails for everything in life, don't believe she did that. Calling her Pocahontas is offensive and juvenile.

I'm not any sort of big fan of Elizabeth Warren. I don't think she would do well running for President. Representing evil librul MA is a big strike against her. It should be a plus considering that MA is in great shape fiscally and has a Republican governor who is liberal on social issues. But it's apparently not these days, sadly.

She’s smart and capable but overly professorial in delivery and not to be too ageist but I’d prefer the next generation to be on the ballot. Obviously she is 100000x better than Trump but so is my dog.

I really don’t like the term ageist haha. Put it in perspective. There’s a minimum age to be president under the preconceived motion that one younger than that she does not have enough experience or what have you.

It shouldn’t be not allowable for old people to run, but I think it’s perfectly reasonable to suggest that someone who is too old is less likely to be in touch with the future, or other criticisms associated with age.

So, seems pretty safe to assume that not only is Trump colluding with the Saudis to cover up the torture and murder of a journalist for money, but also in 2016 as well. Right?

this shit is on the exact same level as "seems pretty safe to assume that [insert benghazi conspiracy theory here]. right?"

It's not - at least in the current situation. No real ties to the 2016 election that are known.

Trump, in his own words, spoke of the large sums of money Saudis give him in the campaign trail. Knowing what we know of him, saying "he's doing [insert horrible thing here] because of money" has a shit ton more credibility than anything related to Clinton and Benghazi.

well yes, obviously everything trump does is "because of money". he's the literal dictionary definition of a kleptocrat.

but taking one nugget of truth and extrapolating it into proof/strong evidence for a number of other things is something i can't really get behind. not to suggest irvine is doing it for nefarious purposes as many on the right tend to do (someone vaguely related to the clintons died so it must have been killary giving direct orders), but it isn't a great look in a place that is already teetering dangerously on the edge of echo-chamber territory.

by "echo-chamber territory" i meant FYM itself - aside from the occasional drive-by "fuck the lazy poors and the evil socialists who want to help them" ranting-at-strawmen from the usual suspect, this place has really become the same half-dozen or so of us lefties chatting about current events and agreeing with each other for the most part.

i mean, i like chatting with you guys about this stuff and having a place to safely blow off steam about dipshit donnie's latest antics but it's not like we still have anything resembling the debates and discussions that we used to have here.

Oh you’re strictly referring to here. Well, I tend to try to inject some varying angles into it, despite by position being established or understood.
