UK News Crew goes missing

ITV crew missing in Iraq

Three members of an ITV News crew are missing after they came under fire on their way to the southern Iraqi city of Basra.
Efforts to find British TV reporter Terry Lloyd, cameraman Fred Nerac and local translator Hussein Othman are underway, following the incident at Iman Anas.

Another member of the team, cameraman Daniel Demoustier, was injured, but was able to make it to safety.

He was not able to see what happened to his colleagues.

'Every effort'

The team had been on their way to Iraq's second city in two vehicles.

ITV News said: "There were British and Iraqi forces in the area at the time.

"Coalition and Iraqi military sources have been unable to confirm their whereabouts.

"Every effort is being made to establish what happened."

Chemical bomb

News correspondent Terry Lloyd joined ITN, which makes news for ITV, in 1983.

He has wide-ranging experience, including stints in Lebanon, Kosovo, Bosnia and Cambodia.

He reported from the Iraqi city of Halabje, after Saddam Hussein dropped a chemical bomb on Kurdish people inside the country.

News of the attack came as officials announced that US and UK forces had captured Basra, Iraq's second city.

Worrying, very worrying.

Razors pain you; Rivers are damp;
Acids stain you; And drugs cause cramp.
Guns aren't lawful; Nooses give;
Gas smells awful; You might as well live.

Kurd officials blame northern Iraq attack on militant Islamists

HALABJA, Iraq, March 22 — At least one journalist was killed and nine other people injured on Saturday in a car bombing in northern Iraq that Kurdish officials blamed on a militant Islamist group.

THE NATIONALITY OF the journalist was not immediately known.

Security officials of the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, or PUK, said they believed the Ansar al-Islam group, which Washington has linked with al-Qaida, was responsible for the bombing outside the village of Khurmal.

The village is in a mountainous area which is the stronghold of Ansar, close to the border with Iran. Kurds said the area was hit in an American missile and bombing attack early on Saturday.

“We consider it a terrorist operation by Ansar,” said a PUK security official. “It seems the car belonged to a member of Ansar.”

Is has been confirmed that ITV reprter Terry Lloyd is dead, He was found in a hostpital in Basara 2 other journlaists who were with him are still unaccounted for..

Apparently he was killed by coalition forces who mistook his car for an Iraq car as 2 other Iraq cars with armed Iraq soldiers were following them..

Very sad
