UK Liberal Democrats leader resigns, admitting drink problem

That was pretty much expected, as he was under pressure from party members to resign.

Good for him for admitting he has a drink problem:up:, though he did deny he had a problem on several occasions in the past.
 
he didnt actually quit because of the drink problem.

that was admitted to a couple of days ago, and from what I understand that if anything actually gained him support. He quit because half of the party said they don't want him as leader.
 
yeah I don't know much about British politics, but I doubt any drinking problem would've kept him from office if he thought he had a chance in hell of keeping his job in the first place. also noticed he didn't mention he was checking himself into any sort of rehab, maybe that is implied?
 
I don't think it was because of just the drinking problem (Ted Kennedy anyone?) but I'm not from the UK so politics may differ alot....

At least he's admitting it...that's a step in the right direction.
 
He seems like a good guy, I hope he gets his problem under control soon. There's not a cure for alcoholism, but it's controllable.
