However, this idiot basically ran into an organized public forum ALREADY being chased by cops, made a total mess of the proceedings, continued to act like a cunt and asked more questions even after Kerry was gracious enough to answer one for him, and resisted when the police attempted to escort him out of the building.

Now, I have no problem with free speech, but I do have a problem with nincompoops who shout "what are you doing!!!! police brutality!!!!" and flop around like a fish on the deck of a boat when security attempts to remove them for being unruly.

It's like the idiots who wanted attention in grade school and wouldn't wait for their turn to be called on. The guy was completely entitled to his question, if he had been sitting as an audience member like everyone else and waited for his possible turn like everyone else.

So, in the end

The Rest of Us: 1
Douchebag College Student: 0
Police Use of Taser: Unwarranted
You pretty much summed up my exact responce perfectly here. I think the police were perfectly in the right up until the point the tasered the kid, which I'm not even entirely sure was unwarranted, though I'll err on the side of it beeing excessive for now.

The guy went in there asking for trouble, violated the rules of the forum, had purposeful intent to cause a scene, resisted commands of the officers repeatedly, and causes way more trouble than it was worth obviously.

Did they need to taser him? No. But they're only human, and when dealing with a complete asshole like that guy, sometimes you slip up. "Help! Help! Why am I being arrested!? Who did anything here!? don't tase me Bro! Don't Tase me!!" *zap-zap-zap*

Yeah, I might have done the same thing in the situation. And has anyone here every been tased? I haven't, but several friends/aquaintances of mine have. It's no big deal. It hardly even hurts, and doesn't really damage you in any significant way. If the kid has been pepper-sprayed or maiced, he would have been in much MUCH more pain. I could also see this being a big deal if they hit him in the head with a club or something like that. But whatever. I lol'd.

I think this is worse than what they did to him.

How so?

A white young male student is much more sympathetic than some middle aged drunken woman or people with too much melanin.

Tasering her for trying to kick out the window is one thing. Yeah, she was drunk and acting ridiculous, but could the guy have called for another officer to help rather than tase her 7 times? It sounded like he wasn't letting up either. I don't know how you put your arms behind your back when you're getting continually shocked.

The guy was a idiot and Kerry was an overly cautious and calculating coward, refusing to say a word until after reading and listening to press reviews of the situation- 24 hours later.

For once, I completely agree. I can't stand John Kerry, and this just reinforces that.

Yeah, Kerry should have gone down there and told the police what to do. That's a great idea. He should have gone Chuck Norris on them. He should have injected his own opinion into it and even if the guy had....I dunno, say pulled a gun out and shot him, he still should have stood there and shouted in the name of freedom!!!!

Forget security. Forget rules. Let any asswipe who is able to hijack a microphone say whatever he wants for as long as he wants. I mean, for crissakes, he could have said "stop", yeah that's the ticket. He should have told them he was goign to arrest them with th authority of the Senate! Badass!!!

Even if the guy did have a gun, he could have told them it was cool, I mean he was from the 60's anyways, right? Am I right? I mean, freedom, yeah!, Right, my niggas?

Freedom of speech! If that punk ass cop tries to subdue you, tell him to lay off of you bro!!! Fuck em all. Stop the war, you can do that by being a top notch assfuck at a meaningless political speech!! Yeah!!!! Freedom!!!! America, Fuck Yeah!!!!!

No one suggested that.
For what ever reason you chose to post a knee jerk reaction because of your feelings towards Kerry, perhaps- I don't know.

Kerry did have center stage, and could of handled the situation differently, he could have asked the campus police to stand down for a moment, while he dialouged and exposed the idiot, but Kerry froze and that is my point.

Even Bill Clinton would have seized the moment if he we're in Kerry's position, (and Bill Clinton has in similar situations) which that isn't saying much, but it makes my point.
