Turkeygate...

nice fake turkey there (and this time i'm not talking about bush )

from cnn newsnight:

Quote:
Aaron Brown: Remember that perfectly roasted turkey the president held for the cameras? Well, it was sort of a stunt bird, a centerpiece meant for decoration not dinner.

"The Bird Was Perfect But Not For Dinner", Washington Post, 12/04/2003.

Quote:
[Q]Officials said they did not know the turkey would be there or that Bush would pick it up. A contractor had roasted and primped the turkey to adorn the buffet line, while the 600 soldiers were served from cafeteria-style steam trays, the officials said. They said the bird was not placed there in anticipation of Bush's stealthy visit, and military sources said a trophy turkey is a standard feature of holiday chow lines. [/Q]

This thing has gone way overboard. Who cares? Some praise Bush but bash Hillary, some the other way around.

Who cares if the turkey was there with anticipation of him or not. He took a cheesy photo op. That's it. Some may try and sell it as if he was actually trying to serve the men and women their lunch, some may not. Just don't act as if that paticular moment was not a staged photo op, and don't hold a double standard as to who went.

Don't you think the conservative press was doing the same thing? Look our president served turkey!!!

Both sides blew this way out of proportion.

he served turkey in a war zone to his troops and the liberal press has tried to disect his motives leaving egg on their own faces.

Exactly - who cares? It's somewhat amusing, but how anyone, liberal or conservative can make a big deal out of a fake bird is just ridiculous.

He never actually served the turkey.

Forget it, this is ridiculous.

The man is neither a liar or a hero for doing what he did.
