...every boy, girl, woman and man.

I'm sure that I don't need to explain why I've posted these lyrics - it should be obvious. I don't want this to sound cheezy, but I think that the song sums up the best way to respond to recent events. Easier said than done, of course... but in my opinion, we need this. Harrison says it all, with few words, in an articulate, sensible, and emotive way.

I find that this song gives me strength when I truly need it... alongside Labi Siffre's beautiful protest song against South African apartheid, Something Inside So Strong.

Wilbert Harrison - Let's Work Together
Together we stand, divided we fall ,
Come on now people, let's get on the ball and work together
Come on , come on let's work together , now now people
'Cause together we will stand ev'ry boy, girl, woman and a man...

Before when things go wrong, as they sometimes will
And the road that you travel, it stays all up hill ,
Let's work together, come on, come on, let's work together
Now now people, you know together we will stand
Ev'ry boy, girl, woman and a man...

Oh well now, two or three minutes, two or three hours
What does it matter now, if this time go round
Let's work together, come on, come on
Let's work together, now now people
'Cause together we will stand
Ev'ry boy, every woman and a man...

Oh well, make someone happy, make someone smile
Let's all work together and make life worth while
Let's work together, come on, come on
Let's work together, now now people
Because together we will we stand: every boy, girl, woman and man.

as an american I just can't believe that what is happening in the gulf coast region. I couldn't believe the attacks of 9-11 either...but this is beyond that, at least to me. I actually had nightmares last night after watching what is happening in that area. This will take more than just the strength of all americans. This will take the strength of the whole world.

America likes to show the world that it is big and strong but right now we are weak, afraid and in mourning. Please donate to any charity of your choice to help the people so very much in need of assistance right now.

i have some lyrics of my own to post... this is for my country, which makes me angry lots of time...but I still love it anyway.

here are some bits and pices of Sometimes You Can't Make It On Your Own. I know it's for Bono's dad but I think it applies to my country right now.

Tough, you think you’ve got the stuff
You’re telling me and anyone
You’re hard enough
You don’t have to put up a fight
You don’t have to always be right
Let me take some of the punches
For you tonight

Listen to me now
I need to let you know
You don’t have to go it alone

Sometimes you can’t make it on your own
Sometimes you can’t make it
Best you can do is to fake it
Sometimes you can’t make it on your own

I also want to thank all of the countries offering us aid right now. I am so humbled by the outreach that I can't even find words to express my gratitude.

I hope it didn't sound corny. I just thought someone needed to say it, and as nobody else was, I thought I'd give it a go. :)

To go along with the songs, the chorus in this one works really well.

Now More Than Ever

Written by John Mellencamp

If you believe
Won't you please raise your hands
Let's hear your voices
Let us know where you stand
Don't shout from the shadows
Cause it won't mean a damn
Now more than ever

CHORUS
Now more than ever
The world needs love
Not just a slogan
But the world needs love
Now more than ever
I can't stand alone
Now more than ever

If I was to buy you
A diamond ring
Make you my princess
Would it mean anything
Would you take me for granted
And just curse my name
Now more than ever

CHORUS

Who am I to say
What needs to be done
I'm just nobody
Another lost one
Caught between what's left
And what needs to be done
Now more than ever
The loss of love
The loss of our dreams
It's not too late

CHORUS

one love
one blood
one life
you got to do what you should

one life
with each other
sisters, brothers

one life
but we're not the same
we get to carry each other, carry each other
one

Not in the least bit corny.....I'm trying to find the words of a song right now...as soon as I can post them I will. Come together.........that's great.

There's nothing cheesy about this sally. My country needs help, and it's going to get it. I'd like to thank the countries for their help.

BILOXI Written by Jesse Winchester, covered by Jimmy Buffett, Ted Hawkins, et al.

Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are dancin' in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
The boy will fill his pail with salty water
And the storms will blow from off towards New Orleans

Sun shines on Biloxi
Air is filled with vapors from the sea
Boy will dig a pool beside the ocean
He sees creatures from his dream underwater
And the sun will set from off towards New Orleans

Stars can see Biloxi
Stars can find their faces in the sea
We are walking down beside the ocean
We are splashing naked in the water
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans
And the sky is red from off towards New Orleans

Down around Biloxi
Pretty girls are swimming in the sea
They all look like sisters in the ocean
The boy will fill his pail with salty water
And the storms will blow from off toward New Orleans
