I wouldn't be alarmed. Time's Person of the Year isn't always a good guy, or at least, you don't necessarily earn that honor by doing good things. It's still who is the most "notorious" person of the year, the one who stirred things up in whatever way, good or bad. I believe Hitler was a Time MOTY. And one year, Arafat was either the MOTY or a runner-up.

I'm not concerned by this "running dog" (as the Chinese Communists used to say--the Little Red Book has some great expressions worshipful article...words mean nothing,

After all, Arafat was given the Nobel Peace Prize, and that has got to be the most dubious Prize ever given in the Commitee's history. In retrospect. 10 or 15 yrs from now, when we are deep in the Spcial Security hell, (he wantto borrow 1 to 2 TRILLION dollars to finance the switch from Gov;t funds to private accouts? Where do you get 1 trillion? How are we going to sellTHIS ONE overses, for surely we can't come up with that money ourselves?) and maybe a recession or mini-depression as a result of this freaking War draining our country's rescources far beyond out ability to cope with it..

Then we'll see how much a few paltry mag covers means. Affter all, the people turned against their Republican darling Hoover in the end.

Not surprising to me... I had a hunch Bush woyld get it b/c he did have the most impact in the World/ US this past year. Love him or hate him one can't deny that he's had an impact. I mean look at the past winners.

Exactly. I'm trying to think of someone who I honestly and objectively believe has had more of an impact (good or bad) this past year and my mind is blank.....

I'd love to see NEWSWEEK outsell TIME on the newsstands this week. They've got Barack Obama on the cover, and I bought it for that reason.

I read the little interview with him that Rolling Stone magazine had recently.

I like him. He seems like a really smart, cool, common sense kind of guy . 'Tis good that he won.

Being Mature?

Why is it in the beginning of this thread there is all sorts of Bush-Bashing- then one person (with the opposite view) "dishes" it back and it is considered immature?

Maybe there's a difference in speaking criticisms about a president and calling a whole group of people bleeding heart demo-communists.

I mean "communists" who still calls people "communists".

I'm sorry about that, how's this:

bleeding-heart-special-interest groups that elect "Hanoi John" as they're party candidate.

I have no problem with people stating they like Bush. None whatsoever. They've got their reasons and that's fine.

But when they stereotype all non-Bush supporters, it kinda bugs me. Especially considering that I know Bush supporters get upset if someone stereotypes them.
