Even though I was just kidding, I retract my kiss thing..at least I say I want it to be a genuinely GOOD and decent guy who treats me the way I want to be treated. I don't care what he looks like as long as I can have that.

Actually I'd rather have a kiss from a dolphin/swim with one. I've always wanted to do that. The dolphin would probably be a better kisser and easier to deal with anyway..

... religious fundamentalism of all stripes across all religions
... those with the least to lose always seem to lose the most

2. three things you think are great in the world right now

... the internet/communications
... the hubris of the current Republican Party has set it up for a Shakespearian fall, and it is a joy to watch and it can only mean good things for the US and the rest of the world
... medical advancements

3. three things you wish you had the power to do to change the messed up things

... educate and empower women across the world
... untie the deadly strands of humiliation, sense of injustice, feelings of powerlessness and religous absolutism so that suicide bombings/attacks become relics of a more barbarous age

4. three best candidates for President of the US in 08

i would imagine they aren't politicians.

5. three things you'd like for Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate

... a trip to Australia to SCUBA the GBR
... a shiny iPod
... a new laptop

6. three things that are on your mind today

... those who revel in the misfortunes of others or find it funny

8 three qualities you like most in people

... basic kindness
... curiosity
... enthusiasm for new ideas, experiences, places, and people

9 three things that could make the world a much better place in 06

... the successful management of Iraq so that the US can leave and the Iraqis can take over and a moderately successful Arab democracy can arise from this mess we've made
... the distribution of free AIDS drugs, free contraception and condoms, mandatory education and the destruction of certain cultural practices and beliefs across Africa and through India, China, and Russia
... the impeachment of George W. Bush followed by a period of the US trying to make amends for the disaster of his presidency

10 three worst world events in 05

... Pakistan earthquake
... continuing genocide in Darfour
... the "global warming needs more study!" as an excuse not to study but to do nothing about the problem; of course it needs study, but that's a freaking excuse for no one to do anything

11 three best world events in 05

... response to tsunami/hurrican victims
... any number of medical advancements
... the waning influence of the "Religious Right" as the Republicans see first how wrong and embarassing and politically destructive it is to bend over to their every demand

I can't believe I forgot about the "ask the homosexual" thread. That was so fantastic, so I change my answer on that one too.

1. Messed up:

Desensitizing
Greed
Celebration of mediocrity
Non accountability

2. Right

1. More international awareness
2. Freer access to information
3. Still trying to think of a third.

3. What I'd like the power to do

1. Teach people how to think instead of what to think
2. For people to respect each other for what they do
instead of who they are or what they own.
3. Put people in charge who actually know how to do
things.

4. Best candidate for President

I like Irvine's answer, although I have some affection
for McCain.

5. Christmas

1. Every bootleg and unreleased song in existence
for Neil Young.
2. Fling with James Spader
3. A long vacation
(oh yeah and that peace and love thing)

6. On my mind

1. Wish I could write that book I always wanted to
write.
2. I wish I could speak another language fluently.
3. Assorted worries and regrets.

7. Qualities about people that bother me the most

1. Entitlement complex
2. Inflexibility of thought
3. Disrespect for people they consider beneath them.

8. What do I like

1. Basic generosity
2. The difference between one on one communication
as opposed to social communication
3. Flirting

9. Make the world a better place

1. Actual democratic participation instead of theoretical
participation.
2. Governments who tell the people the truth.
3. The patience for longterm gain instead of shortterm
show.

10. Worst World Events

Too many to count.

11. Three best

1. Medical advancements
2. US actually becoming aware there may be other
countries out there.
3. Global response to tragedy

12. Three things afraid to do

1. Driving phobia. Wish I could just take off and
drive anywhere in any conditions.
2. Standing and speaking in front of small or large groups
(I'm mouthy enough otherwise)
3. Show vulnerability

13. Things I wish I hadn't done

1. Lied
2. Acted passive-agressive, when if my ego or
sense of self hadn't gotten in the way, I
might be heading more toward the way I want
to be.
3. Gave more time to things I don't really care about
than I did to things I do.
(However, I probably reget the things I didn't do
just as much)

14. Three things I have to do before I die

1. Live a couple of years at least in Canada.
2. Write a book that pleases me
3. Learn openness

15. Three shows I can't miss

1. Boston Legal
2. CSI Las Vegas
(Uh, I don't watch anything else really)

16. Three movies I want to see

1. Capote
2. That Johnny Cash one
3. Maybe Brokeback Mountain

17. Don't know if I can recall specific threads. I remember
discussions. Too many threads that ended up just
where they started. A few that actually went somewhere.
Shit. This is terrible. For all the time I spent in this
forum, I can't remember shit. I remember people's points
of view and what lines were drawn. But I do remember
posts that changed my point of view on something. (I don't
even remember the threads I started.) Well, I guess I'm
finally learning how to be more in the moment.) I do
remember the Spader pics though.

18. The three best compliments someone can give me.

1. I'm funny.
2. I'm honest
3. I brought out a perspective they hadn't thought of.

19. Three Most Influential

Irvine had good picks. I'll go with those. (I'm getting
tired.

Curse word/phrase

"Fuck this shit."

Favorite animals: horses, dogs, cats, squirrels, birds

Book I plan to read: Michener's Mexico

Who is Stephen Fry?

20. What book do you wish you'd written or move you wish
you'd made and why?

Thanks, Mrs. S. This is the first thread I've felt like participating in in a while. Enjoyed it.

Well thanks Bono's Saint, and thanks for participating. You're my best FYM friend

a fling w/ James Spader wouldn't be bad either come to think of it

that's another fear I have, I'm terrified of public speaking

what move do I wish I had made and why? I wish I had been nicer to a guy years ago who truly cared about me and treated me w/ kindness and respect instead of falling for men who don't do that and never will

physical move-I wish I had moved to some deserted island somewhere, as long as the others from Lost weren't there

Curse word/phrase

F you, some people I'd really like to say that to right now

Favorite animals: dogs, deer

Book I plan to read: Until I Find You by John Irving, it's been sitting on my shelf for months..Teacher Man by Frank McCourt

When you read the new John Irving book, let me know if you like it. I was kind of disappointed. Always enjoy your threads. You always add a personal touch that is sometimes lacking in FYM.
I'm not usually the warm and fuzzy type but for you I definitely make an exception.

If you're interested, I did another parody in Pleba Fiction.

Thanks. There is a vast area of total nonseriousness in me and the parodies give me a chance to play. Bono's a piece of cake to parody. Edge a little bit harder. And I don't know enough quirky information about Larry and Adam to do too much with them.

Actually, to get back to your topic. One of the things I most regret: I don't play enough. Kind of why I participate less now in FYM or the rest of the site unless I find the topics fun. I was getting too serious.
