Perhaps to them it is the question of the lesser evil ~ which major party does the least harm.

but most centrist republican beliefs were effectively incorporated into the Democratic party by Clinton -- the Dems are now the party of smaller government, big business, and selective warfare (i.e., Bosnia).

Then maybe the Democrats could do a better job at getting that message out to court that vote.

yes, they could, but to be fair, it is a bit difficult when Republicans shamelessly weild the power of the incombancy and equate the election of a Democrat as being the first step towards another 9-11 attack.

and it was still a virtual dead heat.

and a bunch of churches in Ohio should loose their tax-exempt status.

I don't think any churches should have tax exempt status in the first place.

That's exactly what James Madison, 4th President and writer of the Constitution, advocated too. He hated the idea of giving religion tax-exempt statuses.
