The Whoring Of Paul Wellstone's Memorial Service

Supposed to be a Memoria/Funeral Service for Senator Paul Wellstone.
The memorial/funeral service turns into a friggin rally for Democratic causes..
Republicans in attendance are booed
Whats up w that?

The Vice President of United States Dick Cheney expressed his desire to attend -to represent The White House and to offer his/their condolences.
The Vice President Of The United States is denied access to the funeral..
He was asked not to attend by The Wellstone Camp.
Wellstone Camp reason? cited the need for added security as an "inconvience" for ppl attending Memorial Service(Pep Rally)..hmm

So much for open-minded bi-partisan compassion by those who claim to have the market cornered on these traits..

Way to go some of you Democrats -you showed your true colors
How well you whored yourselves out that night.
Your Govenor even walked out of your Funeral/ Memorial Service..onced it became a "pep-rally"
Shame on you..

I hope you meant "your" as in Minnesota's governor. Ventura is an Independent.

Added security? Hahaha...considering half the senate and Bill Clinton was there, how much more security could there be?

Cheney’s people wanted permission to set up a twenty foot perimeter to guarantee that he could not be served with lawsuits, subpoenas, etc. It is dangerous for him to come out of hiding. Awful kind of him to consider it.

Cheney: "I told you, it is because of Haliburton - 34 million, etc.-remember?"
W: "Yeah, yeah, I got it. Hallie Berry - 30 blah blah million - I know we got blacks"

Not Cool

Even without Cheney there.....

The whole thing was not cool....

I guess it is a sign as to how desperate the whole situation is in the Senate.....

I am saddened at the loss of Wellstone. I think Democracy works best when we have divergent views, and decent people who can express them. It was obvious even his opponents respected him.

Too bad about the service.....

May the backlash be equal to the behavior of the speakers at the memorial.

Peace to all

Agreed. Too many "high-fives" and cheers for Mondale.

It made me nauseous.

I am glad thought that some people had the sack to get up and walk out of that charade.

Wellstone would NOT have liked that.

I understand your point Diamond, I will just state that Mrs. Chaney was flying to Wellstoone's state to endorse his competetor at the time of his death.

The family just did not want her there and in turn he was asked not to come.

The whole thing was a mess, however, I stand by the fact that you have a right to have whomever you want at your memorial service...

Well, Mondale supposedly used a U2 song as his background music during a recent rally. At least according to this Slate article:

http://slate.msn.com/?id=2073357

He can't be all bad!

Mondale isn't half bad. He's a good candidate for the job (certainly not a replacement). The polls indicate that Mondale has the same lead over Coleman as Wellstone did.

About Lynne Cheney...she had just been here in Sioux Falls, SD and I just really think she had no place at the memorial...or at what a memorial should be.

I'm proud of my governor for walking out on that, and anybody else who did deserves mad props. Whatever that was, Wellstone would not have appreciated it.
