Hollywood is one of the greatest things about America. I love Hollywood. I love entertainment.

Sure enough you may say: it is full or sex and sins.

Sure enough you may say: French or italian independent film scene produce better flics.

But anyway, there are so many talented people in Hollywood.

Makes me a big fan. Hollywood is America.

perhaps to the world outside America.
However here at home in America , most would not agree Mr HipHop.

Hollywood is not America, only a small aspect here..

I thought that referring to melon and I as "children" was pretty patronizing, considering that we are both adults. But maybe that's just another example of my "rigid" thinking.

Hiphop- this is from your perspective.

I like the following quote best.
"America is an idea" -Bono

Granted, Hollywood is a still a part of America.
Hollywood is probably the vehicle that you learned about America .
America and the ideas she represents are much larger than Hollywood.

Thats a great list you posted there Hiphop.
In keeping with Diamond's thread, you need to list pretty much every American though. Hollywood is detested for what it represents. I dont necessarily agree with this intense dislike in terms of the aforementioned point about the fundamentalists hating what it espouses, and that is because America is so much more than Hollywood. It is every single person and every aspect of many more things than just Hollywood that make America. After all, India's Bollywood doesn't get the same deal that Hollywood does.
I'm still struggling with these dots though Diamond.

Thanks.

What people dont get is the expression.

In saying America is James Brown, I say America is everything else too.

America IS.
