That is one of the best examples on why marriage isn't quite all that sacred anymore. If you look at celebs and how fast they marry and divorce, why is that okay and not two people who love each other and want to stay together forever marrying? The bible was pretty much against divorce as well, right?

It's not even safe to be a Republican these days.

Well the truth is that that's not a republican viewpoint. Or an American viewpoint, at that.

It does sometimes get difficult to tell whether Republicans are evil, stupid, or simply some combination of the two.

Now, now... that's unfair. Add "some" in between "whether" and "Republicans" and it's a bit more fair. Also might add "or so greedy for power and position that they're scared shitless of standing up against the Tea Party and losing one or both" to the end of that.

as personal as marriage equality is, things like this are actually far more important -- i'm just curious as to what we can actually do, as individual citizens as well as a country, to stop horror like this.

of course, the American evangelicals who helped shape this bill should be jailed. but after that ...

Apparently the people there are proud that their government didn't 'succumb to the western pressure'... and their president commented that they don't like the way we live but don't complain about it...

Better stay away from there. Not that I was planning to visit anyway.

There's a Kickstarter campaign for a photograph series designed to create iconic images of same sex love. There are some really beautiful images here.

A video profiling the project: https://d2pq0u4uni88oo.cloudfront.ne...1020-webm.webm

and a page with the images. The 14 Stunning Photographs Of Couples In Love

One example

Those photos are lovely, but some of them make me doubt their authenticity. The ones showing Indian and Muslim lesbian couples don't seem real because of the rampant homophobia and discrimination against gays in those cultures. Also, some of the photos look like fashion shoots. I wasn't able to look at the video because I'm at work, but the description indicates these are real couples. Maybe I'm wrong?

ETA: OK, I was able to sneak a look at the video. He mentioned models, so I guess the photos aren't all about real life gay and lesbian couples. If so, I think it would be better if they were photos of real couples to really show that homosexual love is real
