Normal The Doom Spin

When the Misery Index (unemployment plus inflation) is low, and has gone down since GWB took office, what do you do?

Re-define the Index!

Quote:
Though it has been cited in practically every national (and many local) elections for more than a generation, this misery index was apparently not good or, perhaps, complicated enough for the Kerry camp. So they collected seven data points (median family income, college tuition, health-care costs, gas prices, bankruptcy rates, homeownership rate and private-sector job growth) to make their own index. All but one of these indicators home ownership have fallen over the past three years.

Those all sound like reasonable factors to include, and may have been changed because things like college tuition, which were once considered luxuries, are now considered necessities for even lower-middle and low-income families.

On an unrelated note: nbc, you seem really fond of the lately. It's one of my favorite smileys too.

is my favorite "I'm a mod and you guys better listen!" smiley.
