Are you sure it's only 70?

A coalition is something that speaks of unity, not just a small lending of a hand.

The last time I've read Resolution 1441 was somewhere around 2003, so I don't know the exact wording anymore.

But to say that the UN supported the attack on Iraq is ridiculous. Germany and France said, they will participate in the war if the UN declares war, or if there is a clear UN mandate.

That never happened, and the UN was not in favor of the war.
The problem was that the UN could declare war with the USA.
They had to accept this war to happen, but they never approved it as the right thing to do.

a coalition is a close association of groups with a common aim. This is may be, but it's a weak one that has always smelt of political tokenism.

Fuck the UN. Move the building to somewhere in Europe or some thirdworld country.

which is why the numbers of nearly all of the other countries -- save for the UK and, until April, South Korea -- are miniscule. they participate for the benefit of American domestic politics. no other reason.

Yes, I think this discussion is useless. Because there is simply no progress.
Why wasting all the time when nothing happens?

Could you give some reasoning, backed up evidence and facts that show us all why the UN is so useless?

Ever heard of the League of Nations?

No one says the UN is perfect, it's rather pretty weak sometimes, but no one with a clear mind would really be happy to see this organisation disappear.

There is much more to the UN than the Security Council.
