Suspension Of Disbelief

Suspension of Disbelief

one step closer to my
one step closer to my
one step closer to my
happiness

free to do the things i want
free to do the things i want
free to do the things
i want to do

i would never question your sincerity
a firm conviction's good enough for me
we could all live after ever happily
in our suspended state
(of disbelief)

heaven's only just a state of mind
no hell below, above us only sky
(of disbelief)
heaven's only just a state of mind
no hell below, above us only sky

can you hear the sound of one hand
can you hear the sound of one hand
can you hear the sound of one hand
...

depending on the marrow you measure
a contradiction's only a color
don't talk to me ‘bout what sets you free
in my suspended state
(of disbelief)

heaven's only just a state of mind
no hell below, above us only sky
(of disbelief)
heavens only just a state of mind
imagine it, its easy if you try

interpretation left open ended
nobody's feelings ever offended
reality's not recommended
and disbelief's always suspended

80s, should I move this to Lemonade Stand or Dream Out Loud?

If you don't say which in the next few hours, I'll move it to DOL and assume it's an original.

Thanks.

You can, move it to Lemonade Stand. It's by Tribe Of Judah. Sorry for posting it in the wrong place. I just think it has a lot to say about our society.

As a song lyric it possibly belongs in Bang and Clatter, but I think it'd be good to leave here if you want to talk about what the song is saying.
I have never heard the song though, and from the lyrics alone, dont want to falsely interpret. Can you give a run down 80's?

Gladly. Gary Cherone, formerly of Extreme and Van Halen, wrote this song for his new band, Tribe Of Judah. It's on their debut CD, called Exit Elvis. Exit Elvis has a recurring theme throughout the songs - that we as a society have pushed God more and more out of our life, and have become the center of our own universe. The CD presents a view of a world in which God has been declared dead, and the CD's cover art shows us the ultimate conclusion of such a decision - Gary is pictured with a gun to his head, about to commit suicide. This song is about the relativism that permeates our society; that in the name of "inclusion", absolute truth has been discounted. It is a picture of bliss...but of false bliss.
